We've been burned so many times that I no longer believe a single word they're saying (unless they're threatening us with layoffs, then I know they're serious).

I trust my immediate manager but my guess is they are a low band 4. I think they are mostly in the dark nearly as much as I and when they aren’t, they don’t have a huge lead on information ahead of me. I do not trust their manager, although that is more based on their personality and not necessarily because I think they are privy to privileged information. I don’t categorically trust directors and above.
I trust nobody that’s senior director or up.
I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but it's hard when ELT is clearly completely out of touch with the rest of the company or outright lying.
"Still" implies that there was trust at one point. Not sure I can claim that.
Who do you mean by “management”? Our director leaders? ELT? I personally trust my manager and skip level. Do I trust ELT? Not personally, because they owe a fiduciary duty to shareholders to generate profits and that doesn’t always align with keeping all current employees
