Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Company has emergency and we're a team. Employees have an emergency and you're on your own and hurry up.

Where's the emergency protocols for employees to check in and the offer of resources or time to get your life back in order before returning to the office?

I know the shareholders need their value but damn I need this tree off my house and power first.

So frustrating working at this place.

@1prj Dude, seriously?

Even if you’re just trolling this in poor taste. There’s people who still don’t have electricity and had their homes destroyed. Chill TF out with forcing everyone to the office during natural disasters.

Let's look at the company's own PEAR model for emergency response. What does the P stand for?

If there is ever a safety incident on one of my sites the first thing I ask is "how is the IP?" and go from there.

This tip is written is several emergency response tools given to managers and supervision. "your response matters" and it's the expectation of leaders.

Wtf happened here?

@1orv - I found it very telling that the Global Corporate Town Hall that was scheduled for this week had been postponed to the end of next month. No one wants to hear from the pitchfork & torch toting villagers right now. LOL

I'd like to ask the leadership team at the next town hall: What category hurricane would we need to have before we consider closing campus for the day?

I won't be able to do that since they don't take questions anymore though.

I don't expect this to be a family. I know what this relationship is. It's a business.

But at least have some kind of understanding that if you want the most out your employees you need to do your part in build the trust that makes your resources function the best.

I don't even know who would think the way this was handled was a good idea. Sounds like it was handled by some other business center outside the US.

This is part of their Corporate HR Strategy. Make life as miserable as possible so you leave. They do not care for you.

When you ignore the safety of your employees, you send a clear message that they do not matter. There was a time when there was some semblance of care. That is no longer the case. I left a few months ago, but still have concern for the friends and family that remain. Watching a company destroy itself is a sad sight to see.

I recall from prior weather events in Houston communication was sent out shortly after regarding safety, work from home until issues dealt with, ways to get assistance if required etc.

Speaks volumes to those now in charge that those simple things have fallen by the wayside, XOM family doesn’t have as much meaning anymore

Wonder when the email will come from leadership to stop bringing your family to campus as visitors and to leave them in the heat while we make you come to the office

Attrition has been low due to high interest rates. Management is working hard to make you feel uncomfortable so you quit to reduce hc10.
But you are just whining, not quitting, right?

There is absolutely no excuse for the deafening silence from management this week about employee well being. Speaks volumes.

I have seen a LOT of BS with this company, but nothing has made me angrier than the demonstrable lack of empathy they have shown this week. Unbelievable.

EM has changed drastically.

EM formerly put safety first.

EM formerly would have been first company to announce office closure and offer assistance to employees in need.

EM now keeps campus open during a deadly storm, putting every employee that attempts to comply with return to work command at risk.

Just another sad step downward for EM.

“Leadership” at this company is a joke

They are for sure being successful in making people feel like they are not wanted

I feel for you guys. I work for a large oil company and they closed the offices during the storm. Now they are letting people who can work from home the rest of the week, and we already work from home Mondays and Fridays as it is. Not only that, but they also sent out an email for those that need help, and how the employee resources can be used to help those affected. People can even get advances on pay and pull from an employee fund that is setup to deal with things like this. Good luck to all of you. You do deserve better.

They want to make it a miserable place so that folks bail. That’s the MO. It’s obvious and sending staff every possible message they can. What’s next, seats with nails?

I have tolerated a lot, but question my family's safety and it's a different story. XOM is about to feel the impact of not helping the Houston community. They've made the local government's radar thanks to my support. Good luck with that distraction DW and welcome to Houston!
