Confirmation of changes to severance as of 7/1?

Giving this its own thread since becoming a hot topic. Can anyone confirm the recently reported changes to the severance plan?

Though the severance still says 2 weeks for every year up to 52 weeks, my understanding is they don’t have to honor it correct? Maybe I need to read more but it seems they have an “out”

Page 9/21 states that Type I and Type III severance receives 2 weeks pay for each complete year of service to a maximum of 52 weeks. Type II severance is dictated by vacation pay taken but not earned, at least that's how I understand it.

Tommy boy hated it in 2020 when Allstate had to pay out a record breaking amount of severance. He wants to make sure he can save money this time around when the next 4K get cut.

The “new” severance details are now posted, clearly states severance will max out at 6 weeks regardless of years employed at Allstate, I told you all that this is exactly what I was told a week ago when terminated

@3wkn+1treFYmA- Who knows if he is lying or not about what he was told. What is known is that it is VERY OBVIOUS what he said about severance being changed was untrue. I mean you can read the company docs that say what the severance package is. I guess you can choose to believe the earth is flat if you want, it's your prerogative, but for everyone else who is waiting, deservedly, for the severance at least we can rest assured to know that it has not changed.

Why would the guy acknowledge he got laid off then lie about how many weeks severance he got? Seems like such an odd and specific lie that I fully believe him. Maybe I’m the su---r but I doubt it.

Log in to good life website. From the menu, select Plan information. Then health and welfare spds, Other health and welfare, and then the severance plan doc.

save a copy off the website for your records. With the HR layoffs, there is probably no one left to update the web site.

Guys, I read the severance plan today. It’s dated January 1, 2024 and is available on goodlife.com. It still calls for 2 weeks of pay per yr service up to max of 52 weeks and anyone under a year in tenure gets 2 wks. Relax.

Allstate will do anything to anyone to make or save a buck. Bend over and relax. Don’t listen to rumors. They are never true. And if you believe that, there’s some prime real estate to sell you overlooking the freeway in Bloomington. If I were you I’d fight kicking and screaming from what they are doing to you without Vas---ne, aka severance.

@OP- as you can see from the responses, no one other than the field appraiser that started this whole thing can attest to if it was changed or not. And unlike the uninformed that think severance is a whim of management and no one is owed it, the fact is that everyone signed an employment contract and in that contract has agreement to the severance so unlike some think it is not something that can just be taken away at managements discretion. AND like another (more informed) poster added, under the agreement the Board needs to decide to change the severance. I guess the best way to find out the answer is to ask your manager and confirm that it hasn't changed. Seems like a big change for no one to have heard about it. From 2 pay period for every yr up to 52 wks down to 1 pay period for max of 6 wks? I would think you wouldn't have to come to this site to hear about it, EVERYONE that is non exempt would be up in arms about it.

The severance package guide was always available in "The Good Life" if you want to check there for any changes/updates.
