Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

Currently a Discover Financial Employee. Not looking forward to the merger :/

Hi Capital One team,

I’m currently a Discover Financial employee, and I’m not looking forward to the upcoming merger. I have a few questions and concerns that I hope some of you can help with:

  1. How has the transition been for you so far?
  2. What changes should I expect in terms of company culture and work environment?
  3. Are there any specific policies or practices at Capital One that are significantly different from Discover’s?
  4. How does Capital One handle employee benefits, career growth opportunities, and work-life balance?
  5. Any tips or advice on navigating this transition smoothly?

Looking forward to hearing your experiences and insights!

No job security. Backstabbing at it finest. Academy Award performances at every turn. Two faced coworkers and worse. I've been at CapOne 6+ years in 5 different depts. If you want a job that keeps you up every day and nite wondering if you'll have a job every six months then C1 is the place for you. R.U.N. We are not disgruntled employees. We are hard working decent people. Everyone one at some point ends up on a coaching plan at mid year communication seems to always be the reason. Then piped.

Capital One's HR and Recruiting teams fill Glassdoor with fake positive reviews too. Many of their 5-star reviews are fake.

In glassdoor sort reviews for the lowest 1 star ratings and you'll read all about the PIPs and firings cuz of their stack rankings.

Run. We are PIP factory. Bi-annual rank and yank, aka "calibrations" which they "raise the bar" and force PIP's on 8-15%. They don't even share out the benchmarks so you are set up for failure. They will reverse engineer your performance to push you out regardless of your results.

Unless you enjoy playing organizational politics above all else, run!
