Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

How are you coping?

I avoided being laid off this round, but this whole situation made my anxiety go through the roof. I lost some great colleagues, and I feel like sh-t for still being here, because some of them couldn’t afford to lose a job. I hate this place, I hate how they’ve been treating us, and I hate that we have little or no power to influence their behavior and tactics.

To the commenter who said layoffs are done this year.. if you mean the OpenText fiscal year (ended June 30th), yes. If you mean the calendar year? I highly doubt it. My money is on another layoff around October, after fake performance reviews, and the even more fake forced ranking. If you’re in the US, read the room. At OKO/SKO, lots of praise for diversity (in India), our excellent intern program (again, only in India), investments we can’t wait to make in our people (you guessed it, in India). The LCOL areas mentioned were Manila, the Philippines, Costa Rica, and India. So a Canadian company run buy fat cat egotistical US overlords, that give no f___s about their US workers. It’s a sad state of affairs. Remain at your own peril.

I think this is basically to commit su----e as company in the middle term.

Every tech company is setting up hubs in:

  • Israel
  • US (California, Texas etc.)
  • UK
  • Switzerland
  • Dach area + East Europe
  • Nordics
  • South Korea + Japan

With cheap outsourcing support in:

  • India
  • Philippines

To think that you can move the innovation centers to the cheap outsourcing areas and create something is hilarious.

OT competitors are clapping around the world.

OT is supposed to have the image of Bill Gates philanthropy but is more like Mr Wonderful at its heart. Just look at all the 15+ year folks canned in Ukraine. If you are not in a center of excellence (cheap labor), then I expect you have till next year to find a job as this year’s layoffs are done.

The CEO talked about the four centers of excellence.
Romania
Bangalore
Philippines
oh... and yeah Canada!

USA??? Fack NO!

IMHO, this is a test to see can they fire USA based staff and replace them with much lower cost new hires in Bangalore and the Philippines.

If yes'ish... round two is coming up!

I was laid off this round, but I recall last year and years past when I "survived" and not only had to dead with survivors guilt, but had 3x more work to take on.

I could not agree more. Every day feels worse. Today's big sales kickoff had a slide that had "we care about our employees". That could not be further from the truth.
