Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Middle management layoffs

Middle management will be hit for sure as they are about to introduce this new rule where every manager needs to have at least 14 direct reports. But it seems that regular employees are gonna be hit too…

Has this been confirmed?

This is kind of a weird statement. "Middle manager" implies a manager of managers. Having 14 directs there may be rough. Line managers (managers of only ICs) being required to have 14+ maybe makes more sense. That said, I've already definitely been seeing consolidation of middle management on the Dell Digital side.

14 for outsiders , 20 for insiders

In true dell fashion, they save their inner favorites. They just covert the managers to IC and take a hit on other IC instead. Pathetic

Unless you're in PG Marketing. Then it's like 4-5.

Can't be true. They sent me 985 redundant spreadsheets to fill out in the past week. How could innovators adding so much strategic value to the business be at risk of layoff.

This is not new! And depends on the org, some are at 1:16 on exec levels, however at least 8 directs.
