I can no longer recommend this company to friends. I can no longer say I work for a company that cares about its employees. I will no longer go above and beyond for a company that does not go above and beyond for me. I will now begin updating my resume and seeking a new opportunity elsewhere. It breaks my heart to know that I will not finish my career at a company that I thought was my future. A company that I loved. I am no longer proud to work for Health Care Service Corporation.

Honestly, this sounds like they want people to go. It makes it even easier when Cigna comes on board.
I agree it could be that HCSC Govt. side is bloated by comparison to Cigna. Reading what's happening on the Cigna side of this site, looks like they have already laid off a significant amount of staff lately so that means they are running a National Medicare health plan already with a lean amount of staff. Meanwhile we are running smaller regional Medicare plans in some of the same markets they already have a footprint. Either way, I expect layoffs on both sides after this acquisition. I'm on the govt. side and already started to apply elsewhere to reduce the risk of me being caught off guard and laid off.
Can only speculate, but seems like they are gearing up for layoffs on the HCSC side with the Cigna acquisition. Would make sense, especially on the government side. Also, the 2 days PTO carry over is because here in Chicago a law was passed to force that. Best advice is to just be prepared and update the resume and casually look around. If they do let people go, wait for a severance before leaving. Also, if they did let people go, you’d think it would be in Q4 24 or Q1 25, after everyone’s PTO is depleted. Again though, just speculation and not based on special knowledge. Enjoy eating at Cafe 41 today and don’t lose sleep over any of this! It could be a big nothing burger
Do we have any idea the WHY? I’m not seeing anything on WARN.
I left hcsc for a competitor not too long ago. 30% in raise good environment
MANY of my colleagues have voiced the same. This is the first time in my more than 20 years with this company that I felt this disrespected and devalued. I think it’s time for me to dust off the resume and send out some feelers.
I was planning to do 5 years w HCSC until I retire, not anymore. Resume updated, LinkedIn updated and feedback provided to HCSC HR.
Time to vote with our feet.
