Which company is better to work for?

I worked at both. I worked in all BP's BU's and enjoyed my time at Prudhoe Bay and Colombia. The difference I talk about allot is BP was a far safer company than any of the oil majors, and, they rewarded based on achievements. The downside, however, was, if you were anything but a Brit, you bumped up to a ceiling and cant get any higher. I say this all to mention, I worked at BP before Macondo. Since they bought Amoco its all downhill. In comparing CVX to BP, today, its Chevron all the way.
MW is not nearly as easy to get a date with as Bernard
Has anyone ever had a British Manager they liked working for? BP is no different
BP has not been, well, BP since Macondo. They lost like $20 billion in charges and penalties alone. It is now a company lacking direction and long-term strategy. Sound familiar? With BP, it was a catastrophic event; with Chevron, it was 'strategized' in SR.
The Permian is declining????
Obviously chevron
BP lost its way before most in not being sure it wanted to be an oil company as the North Sea reserves reached terminal decline ("Beyond Petroleum") but also in being unsuccessful in identifying new areas of investment. Their returns on investment tanked for a decade. It is a lesson that I hope Chevron leadership will be referencing as the Permian starts its rapid decline over the next few years: You need a long term plan BEFORE you satrt to decline.
BP? What a joke. Just talk to the people who fled from there to here.
Depends if you like to be blown up or not.
Neither. The oil industry is terrible to work for. People need to look elsewhere with people like MW in charge
BP has instituted a hiring freeze recently.
CVX hands down. I've worked at both. Consider yourself extremely fortunate. No offense but you are working in a coddled grade school romper room type environment compared to BP.
