Thread regarding UKG / Ultimate Kronos Group / Ultimate Software Group Inc. layoffs

Time to unionize?

I realize this won't help the UKrewers that were let go, but we can stop this from happening again, or at the very least ensure it's done with more compassion and visibility than the sh-t show that went down today. Who's up for starting a subreddit or discord channel?

Unions are not what they used to be. They used to be about the worker. But haven't been for many years. They are about lining their own pockets, making deals for themselves. Unions have made ridiculous demands on companies forcing them to move or close. Unions have essentially led to jobs out of the US due to cost of paying workers and then they demand jobs for American workers. In the end - workers lose; union leaders prevail.
Keep heads high - you're smart, capable, employable - YOU GOT THIS!

France is a sh-t show for tech jobs with union nonsense. French entrpreneurs come to US to start their companies & skip France even when opening European offices.

The only people that benefit from unionizing is the Unions themselves. You want that poor performer bringing the team down fired? It'll take a year with a union. You want to grind decisions to a halt? That's what you will get because the unions have to agree with certain business decisions involving restructuring. I could go on, but this post is going to get downvoted anyway, so I'm not going to put in much effort. If UKG unionizes, I'm out.

I’ve been saying this since I started back at Ultimate. Things are good? A union can help make sure they stay that way. Things are bad? A union can help try and right the ship.

I love working remotely, but having zero context to network and communicate these ideas in person is easily the single biggest downside.

The only thing you can do is stop working in protest.

Go on strike and stop working.
In France, when we are not happy, we go on strike and express our discontent. And if we don't get what we want, the pressure mounts and things explode in the streets...
these multiple national companies use us to make a profit and don't hesitate to lay us off.
So revolt, show solidarity, and know that without you, your employer is nothing, it's you who make your company rich.

We are with you guys…
