I hope folks know they can negotiate their severance. At least in Canada. And it might be worthwhile to talk to a lawyer to see if you can improve your package. When Nortel collapsed almost all my peers negotiated or involved lawyers and ended up doing very nicely with their severance packages.
I was laid off last October. Packages are the same. 10 weeks is the max. I had 29 years of service, obviously not to this clown show, but one of the companies they bought to part out.

15 years = OT Provided two weeks pay to July 15 + 10 from weeks base pay.
Having only been there a few years, mine was only a total of 4 weeks.
Looks like HR don't want us discussing in case we find the differences
