I was let go last week. The exit paperwork indicated that this was a part of a larger layoff. I'm still on payroll for another month or so, though. I was just curious about how many people were actually affected? Is this something that only gets reported after the official severance date?

So a year plus later you're just chilling out on a Seagate layoff site even tho you are much better off now and it was one of the best things to ever happen to you. Nope, not buying any of it. Please enhance your weak trolling skill and try again.
OP, Best of luck to you, hope you land somewhere soon!
I was laid off in May 2023. Turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me... I got severance paid during summer months and landed an even better job a month later. I am much better off now than I was with Seagate. Good luck and keep your head up!
this industry filled long-timers grasping to reach the retirement finish line, so as much as being laid off may bruise the ego for a time and the uncertainty is no fun, there are better industries out there to be a part of, including some that actual care about employees

customers play us off our competition and visa versa so neither company IMO neither controls market share, the customers flip flops orders around and share follows
Most who get laid off get jobs with better companies to work for eventually. They never have to think about Seagate again and are happier at the new organizations. I've seen it hundreds of times.
That may well be true but remember there is a huge deep hole of debt to our vendors that need to be paid off first. That is going to take months to work through.
multiple quarters of HAMR hype but where are the results so lays aren't necessary
The recent action indicates the company revenue is not strong enough. In my impression, the result of first quarter usually goes flat, and big D will promise another 5 percent dividend. Another round layoff is likely to happen in September.
Sorry to learn about your job loss and wish you the best The first time is tough. Consider reviewing your State's Labor Department website.
We know keeping the numbers low enough so publication is unnecessary happens. If one signs a release in exchange for a benefit they are typically entitled to a list of the positions released and the age of those who held those positions.
