Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

PTO Changes

Enjoy having two fewer days off, and changing the rollover policy mid-year so anyone who has already used their diversity days this year gets the shaft.

Hey everyone, couldn't find the Facebook page, but HCSC Corporate Benefits on Viva Engage (Accessed on teams) has a lot of people complaining, that's the place most people seem to be teaming up.

For those commenting on a FB page, you’re being monitored by HR. There’s no privacy for you if you’re badmouthing your employer. Even if you are on your personal social media. Be careful.

My manager keeps saying there is more to come on this based on the statement in yesterday’s HR’s email “we keep up to date on workforce trends so that our programs and policies are responsive, competitive and current, and want to make you aware of several changes to HCSC’s PTO program that we will be communicating soon”

If there is more to come, why was that email sent yesterday in the first place?

Wellness days (which can be used like PTO) got cut from 7 days to 5 days

PTO accrual remains the same but carryover amounts have been changed from 40 hours to 16 hours. Wellness days can now be carried over at a maximum of 80 hours BUT the company isn’t obligated to pay you for those hours in the event you leave or get laid off.

I don’t understand this change. How much they gonna save even if they layoff 3000 employees roughly $3M. Not even enough for a bonus of a top level executive. I feel this one to stop employees from taking too many leaves during year end enrollment period. Just to make employees life hard. Luckily I am in notice period.

We are planning a companywide-walkout. We are all going to not show up or log in on 7/5. Check the Facebook page for details.

This is so upsetting - we have less PTO and only 2 days can be rolled over. And less wellness days which can be rolled over. So stupid!

Basically they want us to work like slaves and not have an outside life, and for people who keep rolling over wellness and then get laid off, they’re sc--wed cuz the company isn’t obligated to pay you for it.

Preparing for next layoffs I am sure. That was the last time the PTO policy was updated.

Maybe they are making these changes before they take on thousands of new Cigna Medicare employees.

If they've cut everyone from 5 days rollover to 2 days, that's 3 days * 28,000 employees they're never going to have to pay for. About $30M by my calculation. What did we collect last year, $100B?

  1. 03% savings to demotivate your entire workforce. Great job leaders.

Spinning this as "more flexibility". How d-mb do they think we are???

I can understand why they would make this change, but the timing is really bad.

Sorry company. Roll this out mid year so if you have already used your WDD days, you don’t have anything to carry over.

They're reducing their liability for payouts if they have any layoffs in the near future...

So it's true I interpreted that correctly? They legit cut our PTO. We have the d-mbest executives and HR on this planet if this is true, what the he-l are they thinking.
