Took my severance, gave banking a long hard look, and decided to completely change industry. Oh boy, and what a good decision it was. Went nonprofit. I’m paid less, but what I get can’t be paid in money. Work is meaningful, colleagues are great, work hours and work-life balance something I didn’t believe possible before. Working in a team where people don’t stab each other in the back but work as a team towards a goal they actually believe in. Sounds crazy, right?

Once on a PIP, these are necessary steps after the manager decided to terminate you. A PIP is a lot of work for a manager and there is almost never a situation where someone survives.
What was the severance package? How long were you there and your salary grade?
I’m expecting to be laid off in the next round but I can’t get any info on the package.
Depends on situation. About 3-6 months.

Exactly, OP, I was going to ask the same question as @sfy+1tiAYgNY, what type of work do you do? I am employed but essentially PIP-ed by an incompetent and spiteful manager (tech industry).
What kind of work do you do? Asking because I was laid off and there’s literally nothing in tech right now
I am glad that you found a new passion and better work/life balance. Was your severance paid out in lump sum?
