WTAF? With as many IT and Cyber folks laid off in the last year and actively seeking work, how can CDW possibly justify immigrant workers - other than wanting to drive down wages and benefits?

That’s it! Expanding the workforce with cheaper international workers. To be fair lots of companies are doing it and has contributed to the tight tech job market. I know of tech solution providers that hire from India, Pakistan, Philippines, Costa Rica and other places. In fact I have been in interviews too where the international worker was on the tech interview panel for roles I was interviewing with.
And in some cases like this Immigration role you CDW is hiring - this role can help with hiring of H1B international workers. Some of them are already in the US looking to get out of their handcuffed underpaid tech job or have been laid off and desperately looking to land with another company to sponsor their H1B visa.
SHI just bought an Indian tech company back in May! The tech firm in India has 800 employees and they do Cybersecurity and other tech work I forget.
Just to clarify - The post is for a role that is in CWS (HR) that helps with immigration laws and helps bring (usually highly skilled) people into the country. This can include bringing people over from CDW UK and CDW Canada to the US.
For those thinking CDW is trying to "hire cheap labor", you are thinking of when CDW goes with "offshore" hires. When CDW immigrates somebody it actually costs the company more as there can be dual tax implications, sponsorship fees, and the costs sometimes associated with relocation. In other words, CDW is trying to help their Coworkers that want to be "mobile" and work in multiple regions. I know this site is not for "yippy CDW" but this specific post is far reaching.
Description of role from the link includes:
The Immigration Associate will have the opportunity to support CDW’s global mobility and immigration program. Under the supervision of the Global Mobility & Immigration Manager, this individual will provide support services to assist with the coordination of immigration and mobility projects and processes
How is it “racist” to point out that the company is importing and sponsoring foreign workers while laying off Americans? If anything is “racist,” it’s CDW’s exploitative labor practices.
Is this what this platform has become? Please let us focus on the purpose for this platform not racist sentiment.
I had a final round interview elsewhere on Friday. Fingers crossed. I plan to take a few sick days then give notice.
Profit over people, that's how. They don't give 2 💩 about coworkers. Their bottom line is it.
What the fu-k ??
