Why are some teams getting hounded to update their career profile ? What is the true purpose ?

I can vouch for Riffy here, as it was the same in my group.
"Our group offered cost savings and we were told to give names. Additionally, after the first set of names were submitted, we were asked for more."
The only thing I'd add is that they accepted the cost savings and still asked for names, and then more names.
This is a 12% reduction in headcount. Our group offered cost savings and we were told to give names. Additionally, after the first set of names were submitted, we were asked for more.
I cannot imagine how low moral will be after this.
The criteria is the same as last time. How well are you performing in your role vis-a-vis your peers. Are you performing at your grade level.
I know people think "remote" or "over 50" are instructed but that is not true. There are multiple layers of review for each name and we have to justify in writing why people are selected.
Riffy, is it 12% + of headcount or budget?
Riffy- Any insight to what the criteria was for selection of team members to be let go?
I know it is 12% because our VP told me and I have people on the list. Our group is losing 15% of our team and others will see 20%
This is a much larger RIF than what happened last fall.
It is company wide, people don't have to ask if their group will be impacted.
@Riffy
Where did you get the 12% figure from? Rumor or a VP or higher management source.
Carelon def impacted
"Does anyone know which depts will be hit by this rif ? "
The entire company. It is 12% across the board RIF. You don't have to ask who it impacts because it impacts everyone.
@1uan+1tdwjqID I am in carelon and there are whispers and veiled threats about hybrid check ins and performance status. There have always been inquiries into what services our team provides and who it benefits. the difference is lately we have been asked very specific questions about what each team member contributes. I presume that Carelon will be impacted in Aug.
Does anyone know which depts will be hit by this rif ? Gbd? Carelon?
You’re right it might have no connection to this round of RIFs however the whole workforce modernization sounds like another RIF round in early 2025.
Will they pull the " you have to reapply for your job" nonsense?
This has no connection to the upcoming RIFs. HR has been talking about this since April. There are not going to be a bunch of internal positions to apply to after 8/8 since the company is cutting the size of the workforce and in a near total hiring freeze.
They are hounding you because it is another d-mb metric someone is tracking.
Im one of those being told it must be done now. After not having touched it or asked to go there for years. I don’t believe in coincidences. From what I’m reading on here it’s not going to matter if I update my profile or not (I will). I’m a remote worker not near a pulse point so I think I’m really in danger, I think the company wants to push out remote workers regardless of talent. 43 days till we know.
Pure speculation: since some associates who get rif’d can apply for another internal position, having career profiles updated in the system makes it easier for recruiters (8/8 might be a high volume blood bath). Another take— it will factor into (justify) why you were rif’d in the reorg.
