Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Ice Cream is the new Pizza Party

So they now let us have a bowl of ice cream, as opposed to the classic slice it tie of pizza, to make us think that we are valued and are “getting a perk” and that we will forget that we have better treats in our fridge at home.

If we were valued we wouldn’t be laid off, forced into an office just to work remotely, or given insane workloads with unrealistic expectations. The only thing they value is profit. That’s it.

I know it’s not right to say, but it’s posts like this that keep me coming back to this site. Literally low key hilarious. There is no scoop of ice cream that will help a mom who was remote and now needs to go to the office and loose 2 hours of the day driving instead of seeing they children. Give people a gift card to an ice cream place. To be real tho, I get it they want to do something with little to no budget and at least you’ll get a sugar rush to make the day a bit better.

The higher up you go the more responsibility there is. While I’ve cream may not have been ELTs idea, they are at fault for putting site leads in the position to have to come with ideas to offset complaints and to help morale. I’ve cream is better than nothing, but the real solution is to go back to an employee-centric work set up. All the ice cream and pizza parties in the world won’t make us stop thinking about how pointless and punitive it is to come into the office when we don’t have to (except for the rare teams that are collocated and can actually collaborate in person instead of just be on WebEx meetings working remotely from the office).

Guys. Things like free food aren’t the ELT’s idea. It comes from site leads who also were forced back into office against their wills but have the added sht storm of having to field complaints as if it is their fault. They’re tryna make the whole thing marginally better

WAH folks - you get to not waste money on gas, waste time, and depreciate your car. Let alone you don’t have to deal with people on speakerphones, nasty bathrooms and terrible lighting in the office. Hopefully you were kidding, but if not quit complaining

Hey. What about the folks still WAH? Don’t we get ice cream? I hope they will allow us to purchase ice cream and expense it.

Its easy to get into that mindset where you think that they all care about you. In reality, these small perks help feel motivated for a week and they like that so people don’t start quitting left and right. The job market is a lull right now , else you would see the mass resignations. It’s a matter of time
