Our work load has been so low we have all had to cross train. We did not lose any contracts, and our managers keep insisting that they have no idea where the work is. It has never been this slow. I wonder if AI is already being used??

Where have people heard an 8/8 RIF? what areas to be affected ? Will commercial? They’ve already decimated us.. not sure what is left to go!
I know that prior authorization departments are auto approving everything with a click of a button. Just sit there all day clicking and approving without thoroughly reviewing any clinical for medical necessity. Sounds like wasteful dollars going down the drain as in Oprah’s best voice, “you get an approval and you get an approval and you and you!” as well as a preview that our jobs are slowly diminishing.
Big layoffs coming 8/8/24. No one is safe.
There is some seasonality to UM work, with the summer months being the lowest volume wise, and it picks back up in September. If I recall June, July and August were the slowest months. But more work is being shifted Carelon, so that is going to impact volumes.
One reason workloads have decreased is because of major budget issues.
Same with us. However on top of the AI, I’ve noticed Carelon reps in the Philippines and India working some of our work along with other departments. I feel like it’s only a matter of time at this point. I’m sick of the lack of transparency, they’re still planning projects etc into December but I genuinely don’t think we’re gonna make it that long. But I’ve been suspecting a lay off since the start of 2022 and nothing yet.
It is
My team is overloaded and they are pushing us to do more in less time. Threatening us with being replaced by AI and other teams if we don’t perform to their unrealistic expectations. I think it’s a big push before eliminating us.
