Do they pay it out when severance starts, or when severance ends?

Received mine as a lump sum at the start of severance.
Depending on the state, but most states require your employer to pay out your full pto balance on your last day worked.
My answer was the first one, I completely misread the question, apologize and carry on :)
I believe you’d get your PTO paid out on the last regular check you get (before the severance starts).
So let’s say I have 120 hours of accrued PTO and get 20 weeks severance, they will spread those 120 hours evenly across those 20 weeks?
So instead of 80 hours pay per period, I would get paid for 92?
If you have unused PTO it gets factored in and distributed among your checks. If you took more PTO than you had earned up to that point, difference will be deducted from your checks.
I believe you get a continued paycheck through the term of the severance. I can say for sure, it's not a lump sum at the end, and I'm pretty certain it's not a lump sum at the start.
