RIFs were based on performance. Good performers were RIF'ed!
When managers says, RIF is not based on performance. They are just telling the half truth.
I agree, I've seen new people come in and get attacked by their own team. I say nothing and stay low.
I work my 40, take my lunch every day and keep my head down.
Honestly it doesn't pay to be 'the best' People get jealous or intimidated or ???? Who knows. At this company you are best off if you are a major s#@k up, you don't make waves, and do enough work not to get a performance plan, but not enough to attract attention, even good attention.
