We all know what’s coming after badly conducted layoffs: decimated depts, complete chaos, and clueless mgmt which will try to fill in many gaps by offloading all the work wholesale on the rest of us. Don’t allow it to happen. Let them find other ways to cover for the cr-p they created in the first place. And always remember that it doesn’t pay off to be a hard working, dedicated and competent employee. Your only reward will be boot in the behind after which your job will promptly be offshored.

One of my coworkers is a kiss a#* and she has volunteered to take on all this extra work from people leaving. She’s now asking us for help and I am swamped no can do. It seems like so many around me are taking work for the sake of not getting cut for next round not because they are even appropriately qualified to do the work or know how to do the work. It’s a really sad business model.
“You are still an associate getting paid....so do your job as required.”
- correct, do YOUR job, not the job of the people they just RIFd.
Do not work through lunches and extra hours, without compensation, hoping to not get RIF. Some very dedicated and hard working RIFd employees will tell you the same. It will NOT save you and will allow the company to abuse you
Whether you stay or go will come down to how much your manager likes you. It doesn't matter if you pick up the slack or not.
I can agree with your sentiment...but I will still not slack.
@1yko...I concur. Thx for your input.
My recommendation...Do your job and pick up the slack. Be grateful you have not been rif'd. Not to say this will help, but I wouldn't slack. You are still an associate getting paid....so do your job as required.
Given that when they go through these exercises, one of the criteria is how vital you are to the team, I wouldn't recommend this behavior by anyone who isn't looking to eventually get their 15 minute call.
Of course, picking up the slack doesn't mean you WON'T end up on a list anyway, but not doing so makes it more likely you will.
VP material there. Maybe C-suite level. Incompetent AND lazy. We got a winner here.
Lucky for me, I'm incompetent, lazy, and have a bad attitude. I expect to be promoted and climb the ladder at this circus! I will do less while y' all do more.
