Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Who is worse off after the layoffs?

Those who walked away with severance and can now find new jobs in companies that actually appreciate their employees or those of us who are stuck at this place, just waiting for the next round of cuts to be announced? At least those who are gone get to move on, the rest of us are stuck in Anthem limbo.

You are never stuck. Ever. Get your resumes together. Apply elsewhere/anywhere. take FMLA for a reset. Do what you need to do for you!

The job market will get tighter by early 2025. It's better to be looking for a new job now. This industry is not going to get any better.

I guess I was fortunate. I was riff'ed in October 2023. I interviewed for 2 months before I accepted a job offer. I switched from Healthcare IT to another industry because it's not just Elevance doing layoffs; it's all the major healthcare payors, United Health, Aenta, Cigna, Humana. etc. Just be opened to switching industries if you need to. Most job openings at this time are ghost job openings.

I guess it depends on how bad the economy gets in the next 6 months. I got riff’d last week and starting applying for jobs today. Hoping to score new job by middle of Oct and get SUB bonus payout. Might make up for getting s***d on AIP bonus. If you get riffed in next round or ones scheduled for 2025 it might take longer to find comparable job. So I think I’m going to be better off. Plus I’ve been saying it’s been time to leave EH for almost 2 years. Wish I would’ve been more motivated. Plus I think company culture is going to get more and more toxic.

The way I see it is, you stay you have a job with no gap of missing a pay check for those that are no longer there not to mention medical coverage that will stop if being treated for something along with having to find a job that pays the same amount before the SUB employment benefits run out. The SUB employment benefit is one months pay for each year you worked with the company. I know I only got 3 months pay which isn’t much when over 53 people are looking for work.
