Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Working after being RIF’d is wrong

Logged in the computer after being RIF’d. It feels so wrong. I feel ostracized and embarrassed.

Do any of you feel the same?

I don’t feel embarrassed at all. In most cases this is not about performance. Most people have compassion and understand they could easily be next. But it is awkward. last day isn’t for weeks, there is not much work I can do, although I continue to log in frequently.

You have nothing to be ashamed or reason to feel degraded ..except by the company..you hold your head up and show them to be the jerks that they are! Your coworkers /colleagues know what a valuable employee you have been..that’s what matters… wishing you the best !

Enraging. I've never understood demanding transition plans for rifd employees. You decided you can live without my knowledge? So live without it.

The only grace I can allow is that these choices are often not by direct managers. When I'm eventually rifd, I'll do the transition plan, but only because I don't want to leave whichever sad sack who ends up with all my responsibilities having to reinvent the wheel -- it would be for that person, not the company.

So degrading. They have the audacity to ask me to develop a transition plan to ensure a smooth transition for the poor fool who’s absorbing my responsibilities. All under an unspoken vague threat of not being able to collect my SUB if I’m not a good soldier until 9/6.

Consider yourself lucky. You do not have to worry about getting cut anymore. Your co-workers still have to get up every morning with the fear of being RIFed. I'm going to focus on me, I have no intentions of helping this company.

I don't care what anyone thinks. They will now get the bare minimum from me while I make the most of my remaining time before 9/6.
I have a part time job that can give me enough hours to pay my existing bills and expenses. My home and vehicles are all paid for. This RIF just accomplished what I should have done ages ago - GTFO.

Okay, I was RIF’d once before. During my last 30 days, I told everyone I know my position was eliminated and did they know anyone who needed someone like me. I spent the last 30 days looking for a job internally, networking, and not being silent about my impending termination. Stop doing your regular work, focus job hunting and networking.

Take all your PTO before your last day to reduce your time at work. Elevance will not cash out your PTO unless your locality requires it.

They do this to avoid WARN notices. Put you through discomfort so they don’t have to.

It is so awful. I have had people reach out to me by personal email or text to say that they enjoyed working with me and will miss me, but they don't want to use their work laptop to do it. What is going on with the company culture if employees are hesitant to write 'I will miss working with you' to a coworker of 15 years on their company laptop!!!! I commented to someone to that effect and they agreed and said, "I just don't know who is reading my email and I didn't want to take any chances"!!! WTF!!!!

Absolutely do not give it your all. Do bare minimum and worry about you. Prepare your resume and start applying for positions. This company decided they didn’t need you so you owe them nothing.

Same, it’s truly degrading to come back after being RIF on Thursday of last week, my state of mind is struggling to be in a head space of wanting to give it my all as I know I won’t be here next month. The least they could of done is send us to another department that had an open position, clearly this company is all about BS they don’t give a cr-p about us or their members, Upper management should have done better but give no f**ks. I’m working with a heavy heart that makes it hard to keep focus and I’m assuming this is where upper management is watching us like hawks to see who slips up so we don’t complete our 30days to qualify for the SUB employment benefits.
