Cisco to let go 6000 red badge engineers this quarter

I already see it happening in CX, red badges are vanishing both off-shore and on-shore. Acquaintances from other orgs see this as well.

I don't think they have the stomach to do the deep cuts needed. It's going to be a death by a thousand cuts every 6 months to hide how badly the company is doing

I heard rumors of 8-9k in this large LR, to offset revenues & reinvestments into AI. Get ready this LR will be extremely painful & impactful

OP (Anonymous) Nailed it, I’m sorry but it’s all about boosting stock price & meeting shareholders expectations—> “ ELT and Sr.Mgmt all cautious about OPEX versus CAPEX, thats what the street expects”.

Cisco CAPEX = FTE middle management = managers, directors (grades 11-13).

Hope this totally wrong & it doesn’t play out like that on Aug 14th 👌🙏

Nope, see after few weeks all red badges are hanging out there with only blue badges gone. ELT and Sr.Mgmt all cautious about OPEX versus CAPEX, thats what the street expects. In many groups even the budgeting and estimation is done by vendors. These Mgrs and Directors just cutting the paycheck and come forward for presentations prepared by vendors :)

Let's say that there are at least 2 off-shore and 1 on-shore vendors that are panicking right now as their largest customer terminated contracts with them, in their panic they start talking, and when you sum up numbers they throw, it adds up to around 6k. I heard it as a rumor first from my red badge engs, then acquaintances heard it from theirs. Source is not Cisco internal, but vendors themselves.
Unless they lied to their contractors, which is as likely as Leadership lying to us.

The Q1 numbers don't look good. Even janitors have been asked to put up signs in the restrooms saying: "Please use less toilet paper to reduce expenses. This is also good for the environment. Thank you."

With sales tanking, and not making the top line revenue. Chuck needs to fix the bottom line to maintain margins.

So if you cut red badges, no WARN notices, and even if critical talent, engineering will be fine. Just the timeline for features on the roadmap will be “extended”.
