BREAKING NEWS-Exclusive: Cisco to lay off thousands more in second job cut this year, sources say

Aug 9 (Reuters) - Cisco (CSCO.O), opens new tab will cut thousands of jobs in a second round of layoffs this year as the U.S. networking equipment maker shifts focus to higher-growth areas, including cybersecurity and AI, people familiar with the matter said.
The number of people affected could be similar to or slightly higher than the 4,000 employees Cisco laid off in February, and will likely be announced as early as Wednesday with the company's fourth-quarter results, said the sources, who were not authorized to speak publicly.

You mean safeguard the business
Who in 2024 wants to do CLI
How many AMs just give pricing for catalyst and forget about wireless and firewalls

AMs might as well be electricians you only 'sell' switches

Meraki’s game plan has always been and will continue to be: Target existing Catalyst business and convert it to Meraki - reducing revenue per port in the process. That’s the big joke on leadership and a con on shareholders.

Hey now, I’m sure they’ll cut back. Instead of 5 star restaurants, they’ll make the sales folks slum it at 4.5 star. This even is basically going to pay for itself now! /s

They don’t have the backbone to do a 25k cut and rightly so. It sounds good on paper but that will ki-l the business - yes there are redundant roles and products but they all add up to the revenue. The same engineer or sales exec is not going to be able to handle nexus and XR for example. They will do 5k and a time, people just need to be prepared and not act surprised when the news becomes official

@qwy+1tVpTr2C oh please, that is a tired and outdated narrative. Meraki grows because most customers see no value in catalyst center, and have 0 plans to deploy or renew it. By positioning Cat HW with Meraki SW, customers will actually use what we sell—which will lead them to buy more.

Funny that marketing is not even mentioned when asked about departments being affected.

@bmn+1tVpTr2C it grows by cannibalising EN so let's get one thing accurate
It is not incremental it is merely a tech shift

Breaking news LOLOLOL - it’s been well documented here.

First they go after the red badges
Then they go after the older, tenured BB
Then they go after you

This is what it’s like to be inside a rotting whale. Splunk will not save Cisco.

4k is on lower end of what I expected from the rumors going around. I thought they’ll hold off this quarter to have time for the visa work. Pathetic leaders who have no backbone and imagination! Layoffs are not the only way to save cost or shore up stock prices !

it's sad to say, but who gives a sh-t at this point...ELT couldn't give two sh--s about any employee below a VP level. we are all fools to think this is changing any time soon. Cisco will be a 50-55k employee come 2H of FY25

85K employees at the moment. Streamlining down to 50-60K means 25,000 layoffs to be inline with similar size tech firms

Welcome to Cisco, where employees are just a number on a spreadsheet. Can’t wait to hear how “leadership” justified another round. At this point it’s endless though. Cisco just acquires actual technology companies.

People that are saying goodbye Meraki, you do realize that is the ONLY part of our networking portfolio that consistently grows? Lol. They are going to Merakify the entire catalyst porfolio and adopt that sales motion for the majority of business, because it works.

With cuts this deep, there’s not a win in it for any employee. You either get cut, or you don’t and then really wish you did because things will su-k even worse later… If you’re CV is not up to date, its really a bit late...

Meraki PAM
Cisco EN PAM
DAM
And now because three is not a crowd a SAM
What incremental impact do any of these have?
Are we so cash rich we are paying out 3x on channel commission?
