Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Layoffs and H1Bs

How is a company allowed to hire more and more H1Bs while laying off American citizens.
Does anyone at labor dept. or any labor group look into this?

What are the rules?

It’s the good ol’ boy network - old as the day is long. Nothing sinister, just not the one benefiting.

My dept is 80% Indian. Makes me wonder how I’m viewed.

This is clear bias. Probabilistically, we’d expect about 2% of hires to be Indian based off their representation in the population. A little statistics tell us that 80% of team being Indian is therefore statistically impossible without massive bias.

H1B is hired only if the job cannot be done by someone here. That does not seem to be the case anymore. We hire H1B when we have plenty of qualified people here that can do the job. H1B is being abused by companies like this one. The so called leaders of these companies are selling us out for money. They are not Americans!

I am part of the elv web team and not just the engineers but my department has even brought an offshore carelon manager here onshore. So Indian onshore engineers, Indian managers, more Indian managers being brought to onshore and then laying off Americans.

This is just batshit crazy.

If we outsource jobs to other countries, don't those people pay taxes to the country they reside in? How is that good for the US Economy? Oh, almost forgot Elevance doesn't care about anything other than making $$. If I see one more video of GB talking about how it's all about the members, Horse$%^&. You treat your employees like this, you cannot possibly give two shi%& about your members and it shows!

At least H1Bs pay taxes, contribute to US economy and become part of the community. Shipping jobs offshore helps only the top 1%.

Shareholder value rises when corporate costs are lower.

Our politicians are invested in these stocks.

No one in government wants to see an end to this. They're probably in boardrooms across the country as we write this, trying to figure out how to offshore MORE jobs. ALL the jobs.
