I expected a bloodbath, but not as much. Is this confirmed or still in the realm of rumors?

"8/8 round is actually smaller than the last year’s September round"
- False.
This is twice as big. This is 12% headcount reduction across the company. That did not happen last September.
There are so many RIF's HR is doing it in groups. I know this because our group is losing 18% of our staff and they are being let go all at once.
8/8 round is actually smaller than the last year’s September round. But rest assured there will be more. When some here say it’s 20%, I believe it with the caveat it includes last year’s cuts, this year’s cuts so far, future rounds this year, and vacated positions that are not going to be filled and were or will be closed.
I have heard over and over it's 20% by the end of 2024, and including all the RIFs in 2023. Maybe rumor but I'm interested to see what happens on 8/8, which is rumored to be another big one like last October.

This is either a rumor or a misstatement. I've heard that there are personnel cuts of 20% planned but that is (a) counting the RIFs and other changes from about a year ago, and (b) not FTEs but personnel coats, which is why the more senior people at the top of their pay grade have been so heavily targeted these past months.
I honestly do not see how they could function as a company with that kind of RIF all at once. Maybe a 20% RIF over the course of a year, spaced out… but in 1 month, or even 2? Catastrophic to business. I no longer work beyond 40 hours, because working harder never gained me anything. So I work the exact hours I’m paid for, and nothing more.
Closer to 10% - 12%
Rumor as far as I'm concerned. One person saying something doesn't make it likely.
