Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

More RIFs this week, or will they continue on Mondays?

Seems unlikely that engineering wouldn't be affected, but from what I've heard there were none affected today.

My manager told me this was pre-determined 3 months ago in professional services they asked for names...more to come.

More to come, this is a phased approach, has to be as in some countries there are regulations/laws Dell needs to follow. Dell has always done it this way. 1) Start: cascaded announcements (typically spread over a week) 2) Lay-offs: directly where possible without too much hassle (like US, UK, etc.) 3) Managing the transition: over the next coming weeks/months (up to 2 quarters typically) managing people out with consent of work councils/unions and with more 'complex' VSP's, etc.

The last two years the layoffs were in August and September. So expect that this week will go until Wednesday and that part 2 will be in September.

I was told we're not out of the water yet and to expect this to continue until the end of the FY. Just not on such a mass scale like today, but they're still working on laying off and looking at numbers.

Most occurred last week and today. But ask your manager. Lots of moving parts. Several of my colleagues had their 1:1 cancelled after our boss let a couple people go. One other leader (similar role) has a newly vacated role. We’re not sure if they will have to apply for it. 🤷‍♀️
I feel for our leaders, they had little to no say in this one.

I’m wondering too, should we expect more this week?
