Thread regarding Morgan Stanley layoffs

How will they do it.

Let’s face it. Covid is now showing its affect. Economy is in the toilet for the next while.

MS is going to layoff thousands. They have no choice in this environment.

Question:

Will it be 2 evenly split cuts; one in September and one in December

Or

A massive cut in December to wish us all merry Xmas and avoid bonuses on comp day.

The comments are funny to me. Working at MS for a long time, you have to expect cuts during good and bad times. The only year for the past 20 years that I have not seen it was when Gorman said no cuts during Covid. The question is how will they get to 30% margin. The answer is by cuts. Thats the only way!

It is speculative but not nonsense. Some areas are still over capacity

Given the firms results the past 2 quarters this is purely speculative nonsense. At least wait until q3 results before starting the baseless fear mongering.

The firm is doing well and they are not expecting a recession. There is also a need to fill spots left open due to attrition. I would be surprised if there were mass layoffs.

They had a small rif in HR today. Sign the next wave will be in September if not sooner.

Interns also received full time offers today - ironic to say the least. FO will see how many people accept and do cuts from there

Is this speculation or there's truth to it?
