Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Slow news out of Ireland

Does anyone know anything about Ireland redundancy? And would you mind letting me know what the package is. I’m preparing myself to get notified.

There won’t be other layoffs in FR and DE. We just DID a layoff plan so that ship has sailed. And NO you can’t just fire people in multiple plans unless your company is on the brink of collapse - which is definitely not the case. Same also in Italy, the Nordics and others. We’ve got laws here unlike the US.

2+6 weeks capped at 2 years pay (so 17.333 years). Tax taken from lump sum is not as much as you might think if this is your first redundancy. They give you a tax calculation in the letter.

Europe isn't ready yet. Takes time in some countries due to labour laws.

We do not yet have the green light to notify people in Europe. No word from HR on scripts or what packages will look like, notification dates, or exit dates. I can confirm this as I have had team members I have had to take through this round from Americas and Asia Pacific. I am just waiting on go ahead for Europe.

There is no 2 weeks from the government. Dell are paying 6 weeks for every year.

The reference you make to the government money is statutory redundancy and that is how much of your redundancy package will be tax free

Ireland operates a little differently with WFR due to employment laws. It’s always did these on trickle of small numbers to avoid bad press and folks seem happy with their severance and go quietly. unlike US which is a bloodbath and full of resentment

4 weeks per year from Dell.
2 weeks per year from the Gov.
Capped at 17 years.

I know of a few let go lately in Cork. I hope they can pick up a new role soon.

4 weeks from Dell and 2 weeks from the government. With a cap of a number of years I believe.

I have heard of a few people being impacted already but only a few here are there in different departments. I agree ireland keeping things very quiet.

I have heard its 4 weeks a year from DELL and 2 weeks a year from the government.

I think the max is 60 or 80 weeks including the government portion.

People I know have calls setup tomorrow in Cork.
