Bit recovery id to login?

I was not able to login to my laptop as the message prompted me to enter bit recovery ID. I never saw this message before. With layoff discussions going on this forum, I’m worried to see such unusual things. Did anyone see this?

Back in Feb before I got the boot, on the Monday the LR news was to be delivered my computer did a few weird things. It restarted on it's own and was very slow for a time on that day, so I assume they were installing the tracking software to be sure you don't download things. That should be your clue that you are about to get the boot, it will happen a few days before they do the deed. The fun part for me as well was my boss lying to me why she was rescheduling the standing Monday 1-1 on that day...which was one more clue.

No big deal, it sometimes happens if the BIOS or some device firmware is updated.

Why would you engage this audience about an internal IT support question.

I don't see that happening as a result of an LR for an employee as employees are not immediately terminated. They typically get 30-ish days notice to wind up work HR issues like transferring Cisco paid phone #'s to personal liability, setup access to ADP, yada, yada, yada and then get the balance of 60 days as pay in lieu of notice.

Contractors, aka vendors, aka red-badges, OTOH can have their access locked immediately and laptops locked since they may be working remote their account manager needs time to get to them to retrieve their laptop, badge, etc.

Security here. This happens sometimes. Contact Cisco IT and they will guide you through it.

Yep, that is how I was informed. So cold to get shot in the back like this!!! Unbelievable!!! I know Cisco is so cruel to employees, yet I was still surprised.

It could also be your password expired. That happened to me once. I entered in the correct password and couldn’t log in to my computer. Somehow my password just decided to expire. I’d contact Cisco IT.
