I was told a while ago that there was someone that had to be RIF on my team on 8-8. But no information since. Wondering if that means I could be on the RIF list myself?

Are you the manager? If not you wouldn't hear about it. If you're a manager having to lay off a direct report, you would know by now unless it's you.
i hate to say it but anything is possible at this point.
But, if they are laying off 10-12% staff, then I bet HR is overwhelmed with preparing for the 8/8 meetings and you probably won’t hear anything until the day before. Or the day of. Hope you are ok!!
