Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

So why did Kate delay Q2 earnings announcement?

Lumen was supposed to announce Q2 numbers this week. Instead they delayed it until next week and announced the MSFT and Corning "AI" deals.

If the numbers were good, why delay it? Combining good numbers with the AI deals and the stock would jump higher than it is now.

But if the numbers are bad, it would make sense to get that AI news out there...let the stock run on AI news...and then have Kate do a smoke and mirrors dance during the Q@2 release about how earnings may su-k now,but FUTURE earnings are going to be spectacular! (And hope the stock stays at $3+)

My guess is the numbers are going to su-k. Its what ive heard from a few people within. But will Kate's pumped up speech be enough to keep the price high?

"Maybe now you have your answer. Lol. Kate owns you all."

Why? Its a fluff piece released the day before dismal Q2 numbers are released.
All it will do is create a bigger cushion for the rug pull tomorrow evening.

“You really don’t have any experience beyond the area where you work, do you?” I’d say that’s quite presumptuous. I’ve lived and worked outstate and metro areas. I’ve worked in mass markets; I&M, cable, pair gain, pre-provisioning, T1’s, etc, and then went into construction and did a number of jobs there as well. I’ve followed the work. No job is 100% safe anywhere, but you need to stop, take a deep breath, take a look around at where the technology is going, and make an unemotional and rational decision based on the facts. Fiber is the future. Worst case scenario is: You get a couple years training in fiber and have a new skill set on your resume. You also can’t be fearful of challenging yourself to try new things, or even moving out of your town to follow where the work or openings are. “Gone through 3-4 rounds”… I’ve seen twice that. “How many years do you have with the company?” Let’s just say enough, as I’m pension eligible and been through exactly what you are talking about. I’ve answered your questions, and now I have one question for you: Given all of the information provided to you at this moment, what will you do if you are presented with an ISPP?

And all of that work can dry up just like it has for our crews. You really don't have any experience beyond the area where you work, do you? How many years do you have with the company? I've seen this movie before. Gone through 3 or 4 rounds of "aging workforce will create a large gap". Guess what? The company has shrunk ever since Divestiture. And will continue to shrink as long as there isn't real sales (and profit) growth.

“Splicing is not a safe place”. GPON is not the only work splicers do. There are plenty of : CDFS, FTTT conversion from 1 gig to 10 gig, repair/held order, GPON card conversions, Splitter adds, some test and turn-up of cards and equipment, section throws, and yes, even “full-build” GPON MDU and single family neighborhoods. Are we slammed with work? No, we are not. But there is going to be a lot more work once our aging workforce starts to retire this year, and next. Ask yourself why hasn’t the company offered construction VSPP’s or surplussed anyone in fiber since 2021?

Splicing is not a safe place. The company has been trying to get rid of construction splicing for years and will do it again as soon as the volume drops. Our local fiber crews are dead in the water with nothing do now that the QF buildout was curtailed.

Hey Investard, fu-k off. You want to come to an employee layoff board and lecture us about nonsense? Employees know the score and see every day. Quit drinking management's PR koolaid and fu-k off back to actual investing forums.

One can only assume based on prior history that another bad quarter is soon to be revealed. A RIFF is likely in the works, and the lowest seniority individuals as usual, are most at risk. At the moment, Quantum Fiber splicing is the safest place to be. If you want to stay with the company, more importantly stay in this Industry, you will need to get your hands on the fiber. Don’t be afraid to take the leap, and have a plan in place when the day comes to make a decision. Have the talk with your family, there are people waiting to retire and trade with you.

This SLT in my own opinion I feel are the opposite of the DTL lessons. They manipulate the actual situation and lack transparency. They are trying to paint a positive picture in what is going to be painful Q2 I think a few late deals saved face but overall dynamics not good that is why sales is stressed to change ways fast.

I am okay with there being layoffs if company can’t afford to pay workers it has no choice. What bothers me as someone here 4 years only don’t go above and beyond for this company. Folks with 20+ years of service out of the blue get a notice on Monday to leave by Friday abruptly ending their careers at Lumen and no real notice. I think these layoffs are done haphazardly shows the sheer d-mbness and and stupidity of Lumen. Some of the worse leadership I have ever been part of. At this point just waiting for my layoff number to come.
