Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Look at what they do, not listen to what they say

How about they demonstrate they care for people instead of talking unconvincingly about it? How about they start giving material incentives for work performance instead of prep talk? How about they reward people who are willing to take on difficult tasks or who have to deal with difficult people instead of patting them on the back? Or, god forbid, treat people with respect and show their appreciation by rewarding their work instead of talking sugary cr-p while stabbing them in the back?

COVID and the downturn exposed the lack of leadership and lack of caring for the people. Mostly I saw the “me” first behavior. They may smile, say all the right WAEM catch phrases, and act like they care, but never ever trust them. What they do behind closed doors speak volumes.

I used to care & was proud of working here. The growing toxicity over the years, and finally, the obvious lack of care during/after hurricane Beryl really sealed the deal for me. I care about the company now as much as they care for me. It's just a paycheck now, and obviously I'm not alone. Way to go Sr. "leaders." WaEM, rah rah rah? More like blah blah blah.

Remember the “Culture of Caring” program with the hand rail na-is. What an out all the people the shoved out the door in the last 3-4 years.

Agreed. It’s what they do not what they say.

There are plenty of "difficult" people left. The stupid WaEM culture stuff they bought from a consulting firm should be modified to just 1. Don't be an a--hole. 2. See number 1.

First of all, they want you to leave. Phoney lip service is all you gonna get. Why would they give out any material rewards if they want you out?
Second, by now, there's no more "difficult" people. At least I don't see any in my organization. They are long gone. I only see survivers mastered back stabbing and brown nosing skills. Some REs maybe exceptions to this.
