Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Good old days of propping the stock up by cuts are gone

Stock sank nearly 30% today, after layoffs and other cost-cutting measures were announced. This is probably a sign that we are beyond saving. Also a sign that it’s been recognized that leadership which pulled us down into a hole can not pull us out, especially with rando layoffs and cuts. We had time to correct or change the course. I think the window is closed now.

Stock is down because dividend is suspended. Pension funds would have dumped the stock

@mgn That's because Intel's software stack is hot garbage, and the old school technical "leaders" have still not realized software enablement is just as important as hardware.

Intel simply does not have the prowess to roll out manufacturing technology and a profitable one at that. It's time to shut down the manufacturing and sell it to others who are doing the same thing better and more efficiently.

"All the factories will need to become a separate corporation saddled with debt. "

Sounds like how Global Foundries got its start when AMD broke them out. Intel following AMD's foot steps that is hilarious after all the sm--k talk over the years.

It's very telling that while downsizing Pat doubled down on the strategy of build it and they will come. The economics of this business are such that this strategy is bonkers. You can't run a fab at 30% and expect to fund the next silicon node, even with Uncle Sam paying half the bill. The reality is that Intel is now worth more as separate entities than the sum of its parts, and that spells the end. All the factories will need to become a separate corporation saddled with debt.
