Thread regarding CDW layoffs

CDW will be 2-300bps ahead of the IT market?

https://www.gartner.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2024-04-16-gartner-forecast-worldwide-it-spending-to-grow-8-percent-in-2024#:~:text=Worldwide%20IT%20spending%20is%20expected,the%20end%20of%20the%20decade.

We are shrinking in revenue the last 4-5 quarters. Can someone explain the math?

Bro, companies aren’t paying Gartner to say the market is growing. Thats their base level research.

In any case, CDW is underperforming by many measures and what bothers me is that Leahy says that there is uncertainty and even contraction in the tech market that CDW plays in. Not so if you look at AWS growth numbers published today. It also means that Leahy believes that we are not in control of our own destiny with a powerful go to market engine, but are pushed around and controlled by the currents of the market. It is a disturbing message because customers are definitely buying!!

Large enterprises pay Gartner $250,000+ for their membership. This is all paid.

"The term "Full Stack" really bugs me and it makes us look pretty d-mb in front of customers and most people in DV groan when our executives use that term."

LOL, totally agree, sounds like a special hamburger you would order from Wendy's. I'll take the full stack, please, extra cheese.

The first time Eccles muttered it, I laughed out loud. D-mbest sh!t I've ever heard.

The term "Full Stack" really bugs me and it makes us look pretty d-mb in front of customers and most people in DV groan when our executives use that term. It doesn't mean anything to IT people as it's a software term. Full stack is the process of developing both the frontend and backend of applications. It really has nothing to do with IT that CDW sells outside of our Software engineering teams and I could be wrong but I think we are the only company in the industry that uses the term in our own infrastructure context. sigh.

Easy - CDW is a reseller with little to no articulated “value add.” Why should customers buy from us instead of the manufacturer or actual service provider? Our own technology doesn’t work well - why would someone trust us with theirs? We are still operating like a warehouse with a printed catalog. They tried to pivot to services and “full stack” but can’t attract top talent due to poor compensation and working conditions. I’m hanging on until the end of the year then retiring. It’s so sad to see this once great company swirling the drain.
