Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Heard it is happening at the end of Aug and about 10%

Quite a reliable well placed source.

They need to get the big RIF round done in q3 or will owe pro-rated bonuses. Don’t imagine will be pushed out much further.

There is definitely an 8/8 RIF happening. I have to lay people off. Perhaps I'll be on the 8/22 RIF list.

Call me a cynic, but if they are pushing it, rings to me like "everyone knows, we've lost the element of surprise, let's let 8/8 come and go and them catch them off guard two weeks later!"

Wouldn't surprise me a bit but if this new date is true, it's probably that they don't have enough HR to deliver the news all in one day so are splitting it.

I wonder if they are splitting it into two separate dates -- too much for IT and HR too process all in one day??

8/8 or 8/22. I still firmly believe it will happen BEFORE the final quarter of the year

Maybe they offshored the RIF prep work and now, much like almost every offshored claim they have to spend extra time redoing it…heheheh.

Perhaps they aren’t ready for 8/8 like someone else mentioned. However I would wager they can’t push it too close to the end of August. They don’t want to have to pay out bonuses after the 30 day notices. Or perhaps they’ve been reading this site and are nervous. Who knows it’s just guessing now. But I have felt the shift in the manager I work for. And I noticed a bunch are taking vacation on 8/8. Guess we will find out in a week.

Knowing this place, they missed their date of 8/8 and now have to move it to the end of August. We cannot do anything right....

RIFs have been a constant the entire 10+ years I have worked here. It is built into their management style at this company. If you cannot financially and/or mentally tolerate constantly having your job threatened, you need to start looking for a job externally, cut your losses and move on. There are better places to work. Hopefully the job market will pick back up next Spring after the election is over with. The only reason I am still around is because I am so close to retiring. I am just riding it out at this point.

So are you saying 2 separate RIFs planned for Aug? There won’t be anyone left!

Lets focus on 8/8 first. We will talk about end of August later.
