I think elephants likes the chaos. I wouldn't be surprised if it's done several different ways just to f-kwith us
When I was rif'd years ago, my frontline manager was not aware of the rif until the evening before the rif. HR made sure everyone on our team was gone for the day and then they told her about the rif. She was in tears the next day as we all sat in a conference room and were delivered this traumatic news. I guess we really don't know exactly who will know and when leading up to 8/8 and beyond.
Whether you survive the RIF or not, everyone needs to acquire skills that are not healthcare industry specific. Yes, if you are a clinician, you can walk into most facilities and get a job. It's also true that, as of right now, there are several hundred hospitals at risk of closing. I think we've found out since the pandemic that healthcare isn't recession-proof as it appeared in years past.
Don’t assume . I’m a frontline PL. I have been told nothing about this RIF. Everything I know is from here. Maybe I’m on the list, who knows? Maybe just my team is safe this go round..it’s skeletal at best. Most PL I work with and know care about the people they work with and their teams. I will say, from what I have been told, HR provides a script to read from which you can’t deviate from or you also will be terminated. Some of The PLs I have talked to afterwards are sick ..vomiting . We are given no option, many times no say in who is riffed, and no way to soften the blow. We are banned from saying I’m sorry even. For many depts these decisions are made at the director level, not frontline. Frontline finds out a few days prior and is made to deliver the news as if it is our idea. It’s horrible. I’m dreading next week .
So a bit ago everyone in my area had to fill out the standard "list everything you do and the amount of time it takes". I've done this so many times, i have a saved excel with calculations in it. This is the precursor to a RIF in your area/ department, every time i've been asked to fill one out, about 6-8 weeks later there is a RIF. So yeah, a RIF is coming. Is 8/8 the date? I don't know, but I do know its coming... Last year they asked for the same information in August, and you know what happened 6-8 weeks later....
Maybe we should end meetings with "May the Odds be Ever In Your Favor" over the next week.... its a thought.
Does anyone know if finance/actuarial will be hit again since we just had a massive RIF in June due to the reorg?
These are not rumors. This is happening. Your manager is either lying to you (as they are told to do -- PLs are at risk of immediate termination if they disclose) or blissfully, no one on your team is impacted.
Either way, this RIF is happening -- no question about it.
At the end of the day it's all business in form of squid games except our livihood will be taken "we" are the employees and based on our positions discretion will occur and will deny deny deny till the day off so they can keep their position to pin us against each other for that survival. Work on a plan to improve yourself to be marketable and resilient in this tough job market and don't give this company anymore of your time. Keep it bare minimum. From previous posts this has been know and plan for months since June. True colors will show people who they are when sh-t hits the fan on 8/08. I'm not surprised if HR hoards us for this one as they done before in the past. Get li---r ready for that news to be delivered 😣😓🥸
Where there is smoke there is fire. These sites have been very accurate over the past few years so I tend to believe them. Regarding the scope and numbers of the RIF, who really knows? I have read a variety of opinions from various posts about those but I don't think anyone here really knows the numbers. I just keep my head down and do my job. I do know one thing...I'm personally holding off on "expensive purchases" for a few weeks / months.
It’s happening , why would people be getting retention bonuses to stay !? Another poster stated they got one.
More than likely to help the people that are replacing us!?

Sensitive much? My post was not disrespectful or sarcastic in any way. I simply posed the question whether or not any previous "rumors" were untrue.
This site correctly advised about badge swipes weeks before our mangers started bugging us. From what I understand they have been planning 8/8 for months. They really shouldn’t be surprised so many people know and that there’s been several leaks. Things by leadership in my group have been odd. I can say it’s the first time that a manager has never really cared about my mid year so definitely that’s a red flag. if I’m part of the 8/8 group with the last day of 9/6 just a few weeks shy of being eligible for a bonus. I’m not gonna be a happy camper. They should just let me go that day.
These are not rumors. The rif is happening on 8/8. I personally would not believe a PL who states the rif is a rumor. PL were asked to deny the rif if questioned by their team.
As a leader who had to RIF an entire team a few years back, I can confirm I knew some months before the actual RIF date. Not sharing was agony- as a leader who pours everything I have into my teams and my job- but I would have been terminated immediately if I had disclosed.
These RIFs are not the same- I’ve known leaders I trust who found out which associates they were losing at the same time the associates found out. But, I believe the 8/8 scuttlebutt, I believe it will be devastating and widespread, and I believe it will be the next step to destroying a company many of us have spent decades building.

@OP, were any of the previous "rumors" of RIFs posted here untrue? Nope. Though the original posters were told they were "fear-mongoring," turns out every "rumor" has been 100% true.

This is anonymous site so no one can 'prove' anything. But read the room...listen to the town halls and emails with all the talk about 'accepting change.'. And think about the fact that we have lost Medicaid members from redetermination, Medicaid accounts, and we have lost Med Adv members and reimbursement levels in Med Adv is down. We have lost CALPERs and Carelon lost a large military contract...Think about the public discussions of 'resource optimization'... You don't need validation from an anonymous website, it is all out in the open.

Was told by a manager there were no upcoming layoffs. And the completely denied that we had anyone recently quit when I personally knew the people who did and why. They are absolutely lying. I think they are being told to deny it. So if they ever wonder why associates have such mistrust in management this is why. The absolute bold face lies.
