The CDW Way

WE Run our business with passion and integrity.

WE Empower others to do their jobs.

WE Resolve conflict directly.

WE Keep our commitments.

WE Treat others with respect.

WE Listen.

WE Include stakeholders in the decision process.

WE Live our “philosophies of success” every day.

WE Make things happen.

You know what annoys me? The fact that our executives get a base salary raise every year (granted it’s only about 25k a year which is nothing compared to the millions they make).

The same executives that haven’t raised sales base salary in at least the past several years I have been with CDW.

The same executives that only raised the starting AR salary from 30k to 32k because college career fairs wouldn’t allow them back if they didn’t raise it to above MINIMUM WAGE.

The same executives that pay our backbone workers next to nothing and expect the business to run smoothly.

Every year we get new commission plans that make us sell more to make less. Maybe it’s time for them to invest in the employees that actually keep the business running on a day to day basis. Maybe it’s time for them to realize that a workforce that is constantly afraid to be laid off and bitter about being overworked and underpaid doesn’t help the company hit their numbers.

Who in our world gets to keep their sales or revenue delivery job after missing 6 quarters? Chris Corley is nice enough but should be fired right now. Let her team compete for her job or better yet, hire externally.

The "I'm in Power" Way

WE Run our business with fear and intimidation.

WE Empower no one to do their jobs.

WE Resolve conflict with layoffs.

WE Keep no commitments.

WE Treat others with disrespect.

WE Listen to our delusions of grandeur.

WE Include no one with a clue in the decision process.

WE Live our “philosophies of individual greed” every day.

WE Make bad things happen.

"The executive suite goes from one company to the next, propping up shareholder value and practicing fiduciary responsibility. That’s all they get paid to do. If some highly proprietary information, or national security information becomes compromised, to bad, so sad. They really don’t care what you think of them, in fact many postings make it to the country club and become comedic fodder on the 19th hole over cocktails."

  • Hasn't been the CDW of the last 4-6 quarters or so.... declining revenue each quarter, like announced today, a few declining in profit, guessing others were as well, but they get creative to look good. YOY we are down with a soft guidance going forward. The bad decisions and lack of true leadership are catching up to them.

Somewhat new to CDW, but I've been in the IT industry 30+ years with a couple very large IT manufacturers. I've seen and been part of several layoffs and I don't wish that upon anyone. I've met some very capable and brilliant people at CDW. My direct management team has been top shelf, and I do respect them. They are doing the best they can do.

The biggest problem that I see it is that we have sales resources in the wrong place, and they are not incented/compensated properly. Please, somebody show me a very large international IT sales organization that is run from inside sales, anywhere in the world. You can't, because it is either non-existent or extinct. This is where the leadership & organizational changes need to focus. Customer interactions and relationship building happens in the field and it takes time....time that is slipping away. CDW wants to move up the stack from SMB to large corporate & global customers. It has to modify the sales org and decision making to fit that model. It is not happening quick enough even though the people, tools and technologies to make it happen are there. Senior Leadership needs to step up. Layoffs are not the solution. Moving resources around to better fit what our customers need and want is the solution. Just one man's opinion.

You lost me here.

Sure, some of them have only been here for a few years, but Leahy's been here for 20 years. Corley for for 13. Kirby for 26. Kulevich for 18. Waddell for 22. No---n for 22.

If anything, we need fresh minds that understand emerging technologies and how to stay innovative.

You're bitter and have no idea what you're talking about.
