I'm new to unemployment thanks to our lovely company, and they are asking if I applied anywhere. If I don't apply what happens. What if I apply and nothing happens I include that? Do they ever verify or ask for proof. Has anyone fibbed about applying ? Typically it's an on line submitted through a vendor or website. . I've only applied for two and haven't heard anything in weeks.. just looking for anyone who may have any insights.. Thank you stay well .

Im from California and I was also on unemployment and they never ask you for proof. I always marked off yes when it asked about looking for a job. I was on unemployment for about 6 months.
Are you asking if you should lie to the company about the jobs you apply for, or if you should lie to the state of California?
The answer is neither - apply for jobs that are within your skill set, a reasonable commute, and a reasonable salary. Report all of them whether you hear back or not; it's not about only reporting those who contact you, it's about showing the effort of looking. If I recall correctly, EDD reporting also requests result, so if you haven't heard back, just note the result as pending. When you apply online, note "HR" as the contact.
No, you shouldn't feel forced to apply for jobs that are 75 miles away and pay half of your last salary, but you should apply for and record anything that reasonably fits your parameters.
Bear in mind, no one in authority is unaware of this site (they also keep track of where the company is mentioned -- such as on messageboards), so no thinking person is going to give you tips on how to cheat the system.
Report that you applied. Even if you didnt hear back from the company. That’s not your issue. They just want to make sure you are currently looking/available for work. Sometimes they may ask for company and title you applied for.
No one is hiring so you should be fine submitting applications.
I live in a different state and this was year’s ago but I had to report everywhere I applied. The one caveat was if I was offered a job and declined it, I’d have lost my unemployment. So make sure you really want the jobs you’re applying for.
I can’t remember if they checked or not.
