Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

We're No Strangers to the Rain

It's incredibly sad to see the posts from all y'all that are getting let go. I wish you best of luck and hopefully you get something better. Heck, even a job at 7-11 might be a step up from this reeking dumpster fire of a company. Any place that lays off American employees and sends their jobs overseas and then gives mealy-mouthed virtue signaling lectures to those who are left trying to have them carry the extra weight deserves to go out of business entirely. I, too, may be gone at any day. Good luck to you all and may the odds be ever in your favor

The KCC is what is bleeding this company to death. The LM's in that group dont have a clue and do not hold anyine accountable. Even the 3rd lines are useless!!!

Sorry but the writing was on the wall when people started training over seas people behind a NDA and thinking their jobs were safe. Then watched as everyone was layed off and still think you were safe. SME only means some more expensive and another target to fire. Good thing you made all those notes foe your replacements.

The final deathbloe was the decision to dump the subject matter experts and give their notes to nexxio.

Nothing like getting laid off and having all your training notes for new employees given to those overseas re--rds, f nexxio.

It literally sounds like they are having a party now when I call into that overseas transport noc now.

Management at this company is a pure joke. All they care about is Winspect and Certify. They don’t care about anything getting fixed right as long as you run those tests and scan modems to your truck.

I had to a work with many a tech that literally could not use their tools - like having to explain that the V symbol with the wavy line above is for VAC measurements and the V with a straight line is for taking VDC readings. Always loved having them shoot fibers before a maintenance window only for them to loose track of those fiber points when ready to connect.
Most importantly NEVER FORGET when you are whining about being out working and getting paid time and a half for a maintenance window from midnight to 6 AM, that the engineers walking you through the steps on the conference call already worked their usual 8 hour shift and are now on their 2nd shift for which they are not paid a dime because they are exempt.

Ah, yes. The bozo's behind the desk who don't know their butt from a hole in the ground. The people who have to involve tier 3 in EVERY case because the script they want to repeat over and over isn't working. The folks who ask you to change a card for the 5th time even though you tell them the card isn't the problem. The people who send you out for 4 hours taking fiber shots from multiple sites on a decommissioned system which tier 3 discovers in 30 seconds once they are finally brought in. Yeah, let me hear all about the genius level peer have sitting behind a desk.

I love this passion !!!! I have been lucky to work with some great FT's here. I have also had to work with some that can't find their way out of a paper bag. I can't say I blame the paper bag tech. Probably just like everyone else had zero knowledge were able to talk real good at an interview then thrown to the wolves and no training on how " we " do things. Then there are the FT's that talk sh-t about the people sitting at desk trying to get them to understand they are plugged into the wrong thing. Lord if i ever have to hear i have been doing this for 20 years ever in my life it would be too soon. F&%$ your 20 years and listen the words coming out my mouth you dummy.

Thought I'd pitch in my 2 cents, bottom-line the field techs, linemen, and splicers are the life blood of any telecom company. We should try to make their lives as ez as possible because many go above and beyond and point out obvious issues that fall on deaf ears until it takes down 100 DSL ckts. If you think techs are the problem you havent seen the sh-tshow that is Nettxio. God forbid they ever resolve a problem in a timely manner or even understand basic networking. But this is Windstream after all so we had it coming.

I wish management would micro manage us more. I mean two GPSs on us. Mean while you call into a help desk and you can’t hear over the cows and chickens. It would be a shame if they gave Americans these help desk jobs. Also fu-k you I MISS TT!!

Field Ops is rife with stories about techs sitting at home or in their trucks all day marking tickets as 'not accessible' etc.

Problem originates with LMs (do we even have those anymore?) and RPs that are not accountable and don't actually manage their teams.

Friend visited a CO in Arkansas in person. Said the LM spent the first two hours of the day talking to the field techs about his dogs. That is two hours on the clock they are all getting paid and the LM is wasting their time with his bull.

Here is how it works in the field CST and BST
you can work all you want just call it a callout
do nothing all day and work 15 to 20 hours a week for scheduled work after hours work
and code it as call out
do you blame the tech ?
what is wrong here ?
the leadership team?
do the math

Can you define field techs. There’s linemen, CST’s, BST’s, cable splicers

I MISS TT, what does TT stand for? If you say Tony Thomas your insane. Utterly and completely. No question. Besides that you're post is completely garbage. The feild techs do more for this company than anyone else!!!

The field techs are what is bringing this company down. If it wasn’t for management pulling the weight and always covering for them. We wouldn’t even exist!!
