Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Best place to work for IT

LoL - the best place to work for! You must mean that corporate utopia where dreams go to die, and false hope is served daily with a side of illusion.

First, they woo you with tales of flexibility and modern work culture, promising that work-from-home is a permanent fixture. But fast forward a few months, and suddenly the only thing flexible is how fast they can snap back to an "office-only" policy. Because nothing says productivity like commuting an hour each way to sit in a cubicle under fluorescent lights.

Then there's the legendary micromanagement. The management team must be former Olympic athletes in the sport of micromanaging, because they have it down to a science. Your every move is tracked, your every decision questioned. Did you take a five-minute break? Expect a performance review. Miss a Jira update? Prepare for an inquisition. They must believe that staring at your screen over your shoulder is the ultimate productivity booster.

But wait, there's more! Every quarter, like clockwork, comes the thrilling headcount reduction. It's like a game show where you get to guess who’s next to be shown the door. "Survivor: Corporate Edition," where the last employee standing gets the grand prize of doing three people's jobs for the same pay. How exhilarating!

And the management? Ah, the grand illusionists. They keep the morale up with vague promises of future promotions and company growth while simultaneously planning the next round of layoffs. They’ll tell you how valuable you are right before they hand you a pink slip. It's truly an art form how they can smile and nod while tightening the noose.

In summary, this so-called best place to work for is nothing but a masterclass in corporate deception. They lure you in with promises of a dream job and then slowly strip away every perk, replacing them with micromanagement, broken promises, and a revolving door of layoffs. But hey, at least they keep things interesting! Cheers to the illusion!

Well they go rid of most of the Scrum Masters. Talking about the Leads, my Tech lead now does Scrum master work and shuffles paper around, given by our Director. No more Tech work.

Execs like SAFe agile because it's waterfall + micromanagement. Any deviations from the waterfall mean execs can blame below and justify themselves sometimes these large raises. That's why it's called "safe". Too much bait and switch here, and throwing people under

The "leaders" of the company didn't account for an ability retain talent.

Unfortunately, they will only end up with tens of millions of dollars.

It's just a sad story for the actual employees left holding the bag of broken promises.
