Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Do you, guys, look for another job in anticipation of 8/8?

I have been wanting to leave this place for a while, so I’ve been casually looking around. From what I can see, the job market is not as bad as many say. But it’s also true I haven’t been looking that seriously to make any claims. However, I’m scared of this coming round of layoffs, so I intensified job search. What have your experiences been?

Don't even bother with HR when job searching internally. Communicate directly with the hiring manager. When Medicaid was desperate for resources several years ago, I applied for jobs with having over 10 years of experience in MMIS RFPs and implementations and couldn't get an interview. So, I called and spoke to HR about my Medicaid experience and willingness to move myself to a PulsePoint location where Medicaid needed employees, and HR's attitude was, don't call us, we will call you. This is by far the strangest company I have ever worked for.....

I am the person that applied for close to 50 jobs. I just wanted to add I have been the with the company for 6 years & received exceeds expectations at my last yearly review. Never have received lower than meets expectations. About 2 months ago my department got a new manager. I also have been trying to communicate with HR regarding something and they literally hung up on me. So safe to say I’m nervous lol.

I was RIFd for 10/20 with 16 weeks for SUP. fortunately I got another job with in 30 days notice and I requested my new employer to start after 10/20. They agreed and I received 50% as lump sum. But now market is not that good. So I wish you all good luck!!!

It is that bad out there. I’ve been looking to get out of here for months. I’ve applied to hundreds of work from home jobs. I’ve had 1 interview. I have 10 years experience WAH & my CCM. I’ve done CM/UM/ G&A. The problem is they are lowballing nurses pay & hundreds of nurses are applying & willing to work for wages I made over 15 years ago as an LPN.

I look at the jobs out there - updating my resume- but at end of day I put my time in and they will pay for my severance lol I won’t let them get away with not paying me / so I’m not quitting they will have to lay me off.

I brushed up my resume and put a few applications out there, if something comes up it’d pay more than I make now so I guess that answers my question. Though 6 months of not having to work does sound tempting…

Have you actually sent in resumes and waited for interviews? If not, do - because the market is bad. No responses or direct rejects on most if not all applications. This is 3 mos post RIF for someone I know. Another person from another company is an Agile coach, a scrum master and has submitted over 100 resumes ... and crickets. Good luck
