Clicking 'easy apply' isn't enough. To land 'silent jobs' tailored for you, network directly with decision-makers, bypassing recruiters and managers who may lack role clarity. A 5-minute chat with a CEO or SVP beats sending 10 applications. Virtual networking helps, but in-person matters more.

It's pretty rough out there. Not many openings and LOTS of competition.

Even using my network and getting referrals for positions, there have been times I literally hear nothing back from the company despite me only applying for positions I'm well qualified for.. not even a rejection email.

From what I'm hearing from recruiters that I have long relationships with, there is just a FLOOD of applicants for every job out there. Companies had been hiring said recruiters more and more during the Summer because they couldn't dig through the deluge of resumes. But right now, there are very few openings on the market compared to the Summer. And the Summer was like a slight glimmer of hope but still not good at all.

I was able to find a new job within a couple of months, but the competition is pretty brutal. There are a lot of people competing for the same job. You have to be on your A game.

Turds clump together.

PS. I am not talking about though-t-spot or anyone there!

All of the A- and B- players I've seen laid off or get forced out have gotten new jobs literally within weeks, or a couple of months AT MOST.

After the most recent layoff, I'd say 75% of folks have gotten even better jobs. A lot of folks seemingly going to ThoughtSpot (cronyism at its finest there) but no question that people are landing on their feet.

Meanwhile, the few remaining A- and B-players left at Alteryx, are leaving as they interview and find new positions elsewhere. It's a drip, drip, drip steady rate of attrition. This will continue.

AI replaced the translations team and Barista AI app cut the IT department in half.

“You do realize AI is still in the buzzword stage and no one’s job has actually gotten taken over because of AI yet
You must not be in the loop”

Ok give me direct examples of knowledge workers getting laid off because AI has taken over their job completely.

“simply replacing employees with AI technology.”

Not very fortunate, some ex-employees have been jobless for over two years, both at mid-level and senior/VP level. Though they possess the experience, it appears that businesses are hiring more affordable foreign talent or simply replacing employees with AI technology.

Bad times. It's a highly competitive job market. People need UBI.

No good. LinkedIn has people looking for over a year. All jobs have gone to India.

I haven't had any luck so far, but I'm hoping to hear some positive stories from others to get my spirits and hope back up.
