and don't forget to dress to impress, because that is what most of these managing up wastes of space care about. I swear I have never worked for more vapid useless people in my career.

Yes, kiss a-s to the person up top protecting you, but if they get canned all bets are off. Good luck to any of you working at Mattel, the whole notion of having to kiss a-s makes for a toxic environment.

"At will" means they can terminate for any reason. Also means they can protect useless people and keep them on staff. As long as you have someone up top protecting you, you should be good for a long time. Recommend being friends with senior management as priority. Work ethic and contribution is a far secondary. You may get demoted once or twice, for show, but they'll keep you around, and you don't even have to really do anything.

Honestly, are you that naive to think that a company the size of Mattel would behave in an ethical manner? The fact that they are an at-will employer suggests otherwise. For your own good it’s all about self preservation out there…it’s just the way it is, there are no guarantees of employment at Mattel, regardless of what anybody says.

The issue is not legality, it's a question of ethics. An employer needs to treat its employees ethically. If they make a promise, they need to stand by that promise. This is like stuff we all learn in preschool, it's not hard to understand.

You are an at-will employee at Mattel, which means at-will employment is an employer's ability to dismiss an employee for any reason (that is, without having to establish "just cause" for termination), and without warning, as long as the reason is not illegal (e.g. firing because of the employee's gender, s-xual orientation, race, religion, or disability status). When an employee is acknowledged as being hired "at will", courts deny the employee any claim for loss resulting from the dismissal. The rule is justified by its proponents on the basis that an employee may be similarly entitled to leave their job without reason or warning.

Mattel can do anything it wants to any employee. They can give an under performing executive any amount of money and take your remote work situation at anytime.

I don't see how they can guarantee that indefinitely. Tell me more.

As someone who works remotely and relocated to a completely different state a few years ago, I was given specific guarantees at the time that it would not be an issue in the future. They cannot ethically renege on these sorts of assurances now.

Heard murmurs about this. I'm lucky that our "leaders" like to talk with doors wide open at our el Segundo office. They aren't the brightest, especially AH 😂

So, new chatter is surrounding remote workers. They plan to either force them into an office or just let them go, along with yet again more restructuring.

This offer is being taken very seriously and they want to minimize debt as much as possible across ip's
