Now that Allstate has taken over NG and merged us into their system, I am scared! Allstate doesn't like redundant roles. I was part of the 2020 layoffs with Allstate. I thought I was safe at NG. Now not so much!!

Would be very surprised if an Encompass policy was transferred to Nat Gen’s nonstandard side. Encompass merged with Nat Gen’s preferred/premier team and they’ve been going through a consolidation of those duplicative products, especially for older policies, as they roll policies from the Encompass to Nat Gen system.
That said, the Nat Gen claims groups are largely intermingled. All of that said, it seems like the problem is a bad, untrained, or overworked adjuster. Which should be concerning but in the “efficiency” era we’re in now, it’ll get missed for years because there isn’t time to do training or money to staff correctly.
To the last comment. NG is a non- standard company. That's first. Second, adjusters from any company can have these issues. You need to read your policy. If you use your coverage, you pay your deductible. It takes months to get the deductible back through subrogation. You don't even read your policy. If you lazy, just read the DEC page. I see why you have NG insurance, not the brightest bulb in the shed! The service isn't on the company, it's on the adjuster! All my customers love me. TF that got to do with layoffs. If people don't need the money, they wouldn't work. Duh! Didn't your parents teach you, if you don't have nothing nice or smart to say: Zip it!!
My Encompass policy was transferred to NG. I had an auto claim last year. Terrible claim/customer service. The adjuster wanted me to take photos of the car and to get the police report for him---isn't that his job? He never timely returned phone calls or emails or kept me informed of the status of the claim...I had to keep calling for status reports. The accident was not our fault but still took almost a year to get our $500 deductible back. We pay $$$$/year in premium for two autos, a primary home, secondary home, rental property and umbrella with multi-million dollar limits. We've been customers for 25 years (CNA Personal Insurance, Encompass) and they treated us like we were assigned risk policyholders. In fact, whenever I called the claims department, the person answering would just say "Claims" in a bored voice and then dead silence--- No: "thank you for calling NG, this is _____, how may I help you?" If that is how you folks handle claims and treat your customers, then maybe laying your cr-ppy customer 'service' adjusters off may be a good thing. Get your act together or quit whining about being laid off. If it weren't for the current insurance crisis in my state, I would telling my independent agent to write our business with another carrier.
Fear is a powerful, but bad motivation when you think about it. It prays on the negative. We all have done it or experienced it. That said, when a company, and there have been many of them for historical reference, only have a reduce expense strategy without equal balance of creating a new way to compete, it usually results in you run out expenses to cut and left in a difficult go forward position. A new product in and of itself is not a new way to compete.
If you make 100k and up there’s a good chance they’re looking at your role regardless of what department you’re in. If you’re over 50 years old that’s another likely factor.
Take it for what it's worth. There are many openings in Pune, while others are being laid off. If you are in technology, I would be looking over my shoulder.
Im sorry .. for any colleagues esp at sister company.
TG mgt has repeatedly demonsrated disdain contempt and mocked employees even kicking when down so hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I think we all do at this point. Silent RIF is new game in town post 2020.
Ive never worked so hard in my career for so much contempt and (now) totally opaque agenda which seems as I can surmise: So we’ve cut every physical cost: lets move as much labor possible to Pune (Im sorry not has good experience working with them heck IM TRAINING them) with incessant sc--wups and lack any communication.
Yeah yeah I get it shareholder value is all matters. Blah blah blah.
I Agree. And trust me It shows. I wish the institutional investors of ALL would survey the front line people who ACTUALLY generate value for them (its not warmhody mgrs who stare at xls sheets and fire out clearly out touch emails) and en--a TG : this company could be SO much better…
[ok this is where rep defender shill jumps in …. and go!]
That's interesting, they say NG has been out-performing Allstate. I worked for both and still work for both. The service you get is up to the INDIVIDUAL. Does your co-worker rep you? No. You and only speak for your work! You don't have enough brain cells to figure that out. There are redundant roles on both sides. Today my boss told me if there is a layoff, Allstate would go first. Those adjusters under perform!! Oooohhhhh
Yes, Nat Gen has redundancy which should be trimmed. NGIC is not known for service excellence. My many, many interactions left me shocked at the level of incompetence, idiocy, and questionable practices from Senior leaders to your imbecilic FNOL department. It should not take 30-45 minutes to report a. Loss. When it is clearly a HO claim, y’all don’t even possess enough-brain cells to not keep asking question involving an auto collision
I hope the layoffs hit my area. I'm begging for it. I want out so bad. But I have put in enough time that they are going to pay me my 17 year tenure worth of severance for me to leave. I'm not just going to leave that behind after all this time.
I keep asking my manager. He keeps saying he does not think so. However, I know from the last time. They aren't going to say anything. They are coming out with a metric card that looks at what you did 6, 3, and 1 month ago. Why does that matter?? With NG it has been month to month. Why someone on here acting silly? It's ok to be worried about your livihood. Thank God I don't live check to check. I could sit home for 4 years and be ok. However, I don't want to have to live off my savings again. Everyone is applying for these adjusting positions. So it's not so easy to just get another job. Especially being over 40. Its just going to be what it is I guess..
What are you AFRAID for? It would be best if you were using this time to prepare...take some classes, update your resume, and look for what is next. You can't let these corporations control your life or your happiness! Be grateful you have this time to get ready because the writing is on the wall.
There is no "safe" at Allstate. At least you know you need to find a new role. Go find it. No better time than now.
