Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Just a reminder

There is quite literally nothing that statistically proves RTO benefits employees or company performance in any way. Employees have been producing more and more while being remote. But a bunch of boomers in leadership who saw the idea in a Facebook conspiracy group now think RTO is all about “collaboration and togetherness”. There’s just SO much collaboration in the old run down cubicle offices that cvs still has, right?! Forcing employees to commute to the office and waste their personal time doing so is a complete sham.

It is costing the company big $$$$'s to maintain the real estate that sits empty. RTO is just an excuse to justify the huge office buildings that they have to maintain. Security, Maintenance crews are scarce. No office supplies, you have to bring your own. Cafeterias that used to be great are awful and expensive. There is no value of people going into the office. If CVS didn't offshore so many positions, then maybe they would have people actually sitting in the offices.

I was part of the layoffs last year, and while the compensation is less; I WFH and can now actually take a lunch. Additionally I’m not having to deal with an arrogant and ignorant director who knew nothing about GCP.

Brian Kane is using rto as a way to drop head count. He doesn't give a sh-t about people he's a cut throat investment banking douche.

“Shut up and get your a-s to the office!”
Sound like the OP of this comment already reports to a hub, so our team a-s is already represented.

Also for those that had to RTO god forbid management actually does something and tries to reorganize some in person teams so we don't have to go there and get on calls with people in their pajamas off camera. Ideally let people be adults and trust that they'll get their work done and drop the RTO nonsense unless people WANT to go in.

If a layoff is coming I'm praying I get the axe for severance. I hope being competent and going into the office doesn't keep me off the list. They fired so much talent last year that left this place an absolute mess where folks are working the weekend to make up for their poor decisions. Literal proof management has no idea who is getting work done and so why do they have a job?

I drive to a 90%+ empty office building and work with people scattered around the country most of which WFH.

There is zero human contact except for an occasional run in with the cleaning lady or when you greet the security guard.

I now work for a company, after being laid of last year, that has embraced WFH. They only go to the office for occasional in person meetings. It’s glorious!!! I still think this is a way to thin the herd. 🤔
