Y’all. That is too funny. The link and verbiage for the guidebook is still on the page. Either someone deleted/moved the pdf file on sharepoint on accident or purpose. But um, why not get rid of the whole sentence - especially the link?!?

Maybe an update done will be posted this week with more logistics around relocation stuff or property tax info.

At any rate having it up for well over a week as a main tile then a sub news story taking it down (mostly) is an interesting oversight.

Hopefully it means they can talk about it sooner than later (especially for Denver folks) since most people looked at it already and started doing research on moving there either by a future request or curiosity of an optional move.

The guidebook is no longer visible. I guess they realized their disposable employees are actually smart enough to figure out there was something more at play than just announcing the opening of the Frisco office. It always amazes me that the higher-ups are so clueless about how much the peons know and that we usually know weeks before they announce it and they think it’s some big secret.

No state income tax just means your monthly take-home cash flow is more BUT it gets allocated to property taxes. The gov't is going to get their pound of flesh one way or another; no income tax states just give you the false sense of "control".

Ex. Using Colin/Denton County Texas against Jefferson County Colorado.
Median taxes on house valued at $500k..
Colin County 10,950
Denton County 10, 700
Jefferson County 3,500

No state income tax is not as valuable as it is as a talking point.

Is the San Francisco Office in a safe area? Why would they want to relocate rank-and-file people to such a high-cost-of-living area? Didn't they build Charlotte and Lewisville specifically to avoid that issue of sky-high living costs? I guess I just don't get it.

They will leave charlotte open. TIAA has to have two points of contact for the business continuity plan. They will most likely shut down Denver, offer relocation to Frisco by the end of the year. The rumors are going around and around. Who knows what will actually happen. Maybe if TIAA didn’t spend millions on music videos and paying the top hats so much money TIAA wouldn’t be in the position they are. The board needs to open their eyes and cut jobs from the top down.

A statement needs to be made soon. No one wants to wait for the September town hall and have to look at the bullsh*t smile on T’s face.

Good luck to all who will lose their job by the end of the year.

I am very curious why they left out information on Property taxes percentages of the various districts within Denton/Collin County in that guidebook.

Not really since…

Prospective or forced relocating associates beware. While home prices are similar to Charlotte and Denver surrounding areas…

Property tax percentages appear to be 4 times that of counties in/near the Denver office and almost 5 times that of the Charlotte office.

I have no clue about NJ/NY or other states/counties. I also don’t know how TX or those counties charge for other “property” like vehicles, boats, etc.

Since I and many others didn’t have a bonus/pay raise a few months ago and probably won’t have one next year coupled with a possible pay cut to move there …I would be destitute living in my car and showering in the office gym before/after work.

@3lxq+1tApohBg I don’t think the other commenters meant all of Charlotte or all of any other cities… some will be offered to move (with relo package), some may opt to move (no relo package), others will be laid off or stay in their current offices other than Denver folks who likely are out of luck.

Wow. Y’all crazy. It literally has an email to contact for relo. benefits on page 2. It doesn’t have specifics obviously but they appear to be targeting this for people outside of Texas like Denver, NYC, NJ, Chicago, Charlotte .etc.

I’m sure like the other poster said we’ll find out more last minute with little time to prepare, the tiaa way… FRWD to Frisco…

The document was created by Sirva BGRS, a “leading relocation and moving services company”.

This is who a company looking to move a large number of people would hire to facilitate the process. This would not be the strategy for moving a few people from one place to another nearby.

@1vrt+1tApohBg Spot on there. You can see that it seems T wants Frisco to be the destination for the majority all US associates - she’s moving there too IIRC.

First will be most in Denver, then NYC/NJ, then some from Charlotte. Obviously Nuveen folks can simply remain where they are in Chicago, Charlotte, and NY. Heck, she may even try to let go of Nuveen like EverBank.

All because she wants people in the office. 3 days to eventually 5 days so she’ll get to see everyone’s ‘smiling faces’ in Frisco at some point to up her social media street cred.

I’m still curious what will happen to Broomfield, CO - being the DR site and passing Toggle, are they going to eventually shut it down after moving it to Frisco and will Frisco be the main data center and Charlotte be the backup? My heads spinning with all the rumors and unknown. Maybe we’ll find out at the next town hall?

People leaders may get a few weeks notice, or based on recent trends, just a few hours before any peons/worker bees are informed.

Reviewing this document, it was definitely not made for people to just go from Lewisville to Frisco. It would appear that there is definitely something big coming. If prior big events are any indication, we will likely be given a couple weeks notice only - it’s the TIAA way. #itsaTthing

No one talking about it because EC not letting anyone move yet, regardless of location. Denver probably has first dibs with office closing.

Likely no relocation package for anyone outside of Denver. But yeah it’s probably minimal at best and I’m sure it will affect future bonuses for those who opt to move, so factor that in on top of a decreased pay rate.
