WFH RIF Stress

I find it incredibly stressful that they keep changing the rules for work at home folks. I was hired remote more than 50miles from a pulse point before the pandemic. I feel like my days are numbered every time they make a change in policy/reorg. I have great productivity and never had a bad QA. I also have a great manager. I’m approved virtual-only for now. It’s stressful to keep wondering how long I might have till they rif me. Is the SIU in the targeted RIFs for Aug?

I’m a similar situation- hired work from home, nobody in the office I go to work in the same department, it’s all stand alone people on the phone with their teams in other states.

I’m in the same boat. I was hired 10 years ago this August as a Work from Home associate even though I lived 8 miles from an office. My fellow team members lived in states scattered all over the US. Since that time I have moved to another state where the nearest office is 200 plus miles away. My team is still scattered all around the country and most have to go into the office 1-3 days a week. I fear since I am not remotely close to an office that my days are numbered.

I’ve talked to my colleagues who have to go to an office about what it’s like in the office. They all say that they sit in their cubicles and work on their laptops without talking to people around them. This is mostly because the people around them work in different areas of the company. So, what’s the reason for having people go to an office? It’s hard to collaborate with someone who is not doing the same type of job.

I’m in the same situation. It’s discrimination. I was hired WAH & now I’m not being considered for applications within the company. I guess they want people to leave the company. It seems ridiculous especially when studies show that people who work from home are more productive & it costs them less money to operate. Also there are departments that do not require their employees to go in to an office ever even if they live within 50 miles of one so what does it matter?

We have several people on our team in the same situation. I worry for them. We have several who would need to cross hundreds of miles and state lines to show their faces (to precisely no one) in an office.

I know local leadership has NO interest in putting them on the list, but I don't think Gail and team will be satisfied until it's a full RTO, and sc--w anyone who for valid reasons can't do it.

Wishing you the best, but I can't tell you not to worry.
