Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Unemployment anyone?

So I'm on the path now to unemployment as my severance has now ended. It feels real now that the severance is done. I kind of felt a bit connected still, on PTO, or whatever . That may sound weird. So any unemployment users out there. It's quite a process, just to get going, and of course everything is through the mail. You are required to load your resume to some site, I do have the option to get the payment directly deposited into my account. But here's my question. When you make your claims , how does the verification of one applying for a job work . Do I apply for anything ? What happens if I get a job and don't want it ? This is all new to me any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you

And you all hang in there being on this side of the fence is no fun.. blessings

Thank you , In my situation, upon being RIF'ed I qualified for retirement, so I was granted full salary from Elevance health for the duration of my severance 40 years ( 26 weeks) I am from the state of CA. I have gone to UE website read Q&A"s called representatives I'm getting the basic info I need. I guess I was looking for someone who is experiencing it. I do qualify but the process is very antiquated.

Trust me it's much better to be employed than to not be. Just make the best you can of it. Even though things aren't looking so good. Hold your head up high , be true to yourselves, stay wise.. blessings.

@vuj+1t6UNG6B not everyone who was RIFD has to apply for unemployment.

Good luck and take care. I hope you come out the other side better off than you were with Anthem.

If you were part of a RIF, you would have already been filing UE as it is a requirement of their "severance" package. It varies state by state, so I would recommend researching your state's UE benefits and processes.

What state do you live in? The unemployment rules differ by state. All of the information you seek should be on your state's unemployment application website.
