Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Am I being laid off

Help, I really need to know. Our state lost Wellcare, we had a meeting and our positions will be gone soon and they said HR will help us find something soon. Nothing else has been said and they talk as if they didn’t even say it. Changes are to be made as soon as July 1st. HR has not reached out. I just had new hire in April. I need to know because I have a family, and of my husband will need to support us. Has anyone had this happen? Will we really be given a new role? I hate the unknown.

HR doesn't help anyone find a job within Centene. It's a very difficult to work with outplacement company, not HR, that will come into play. Buff up your LinkedIn profile and your resume. You are on borrowed time. Apply to outside companies. Good luck on your search. I've been through this and it is going to get frustrating, but you will find something if you can hang in there.

Wait, you just started in APRIL!??

Centene is a piece of sh*t for doing this!!!!

Start looking and take this as a sign from above. You don't want to be with ANY company that would do this to you.

I believe that was lay off. They offer outplacement help so maybe that’s the confusion. They happen to do soft layoffs, where they help you with your exit strategy and give generous severance, however, I’ve heard the severance has been cut in half since prior rounds. Start applying everywhere now

If you want to stay internal your best bet it to apply for everything you can in Workday before you leave and make connections with the recruiters. I was laid off for three months prior to getting a call from the recruiter I was working with for the position I am now in with one of the health plans. Either way make sure to file for Unemployment as soon as you can to get that waiting period started. Good luck.

Exiting Medicare in AL, MA, NH, NM, RI, VT. They'll repurpose some staff probably, but the reality is not everyone will survive.

I wish I was given a “new role”. Instead I was laid off and still can’t find a job. I also have a family it’s been rough.

I saw on another post that some were being “repurposed” with new roles. Wouldn’t this affect multiple states? I didn’t see what states Wellcare would no longer be available. However, start looking as the other posters mentioned.

I was coming to say this!

Unfortunately you are on your own. Please start looking externally NOW. Good luck to you.

They will probably give you the run around, make you think you’re getting a position then you won’t get one…happened to my friend…

Everyone should be looking outside the company. Current management is a one trick pony: sell; layoff; fire some more - then rinse wash repeat. You can only sell so much and get rid of such a large chunk of your headcount before the house of cards falls. Look at the stock people, the writing is on the wall.
